Special offer

Vacant and Undesirable to Sensationally SOLD!

By
Home Stager with Home Matters Property Stylist Group, Indianapolis, Indiana

Below are three examples of homes that have been on the market in the Indianapolis area for approximately 6 months without offers.  Even though they were located in different areas around town, they all had one thing in common.  They were vacant and undesirable; there was no point of reference as to how furnishings would fit.  Home buyers could not envision their lives in the space and therefore could not connect with the house that they were viewing. Price reductions could not even conger up a sale. In these three examples, Home staging was the missing ingredient these home sellers added to their sales mix and now are considered a SOLD statistic. Homes can and are being sold even in this tough real estate market.  It could happen to you!  Call a professional home stager and see how they might help.

Hi Linda!  LOVE IT!  all great; but I gotta tell ya; when I saw the vacant room with the huge mirror over the fireplace; well, it just looked "STUCK"  -- your staging the room made on the difference!

Mary Lou; The home sellers were thrilled as I was for them.  Staging does work to help move properties. Thanks for stopping by.

Michelle; Thank you.  It's really a great feeling when you help people move forward.

Maureen: Hopefully with more stagers showcasing their work and their statistics; we will make staging a tool that is used in selling homes period. Thanks for your comments.

Karen; This huge mirror was actually mounted above the fireplace and I needed to stage the room with it because it wasn't going anywhere.  Thanks for your comment and for stopping by.

Linda...

Great job.  Keep up the good work.  My favorite one is the 3rd, I like seeing the warmth and charm of adding furniture around the fireplace.  Makes it feel like home.

Linda,

This is a wonderful post however, In my neck of the woods, I tend to see many staged homes that have  been on the market for 6+ months. I have seen several that were staged for almost a year  and still haven't sold.  I am a great fan of staging....however, my opinion is that it is not a cure all for a listing that wont sell

Wow!  I'm an advocate of staging - Recently I've been working with a buyer who simply can't imagine space so every vacant home we go into I KNOW she will not like - So frustrating for me - The listing broker has to do something to help potential buyers envision the space...

You do great work!

Wow, what a difference a few furnishings make. In this market it takes a lot of things to get a home sold and staging is one that definitely helps.

Great staging jobs Linda.  Did you change the paint colour in the 3rd one or is it just the lighting?

What is the least expensive way to stage a home. I hear some pretty large numbers being tossed around.

Michael;  Thank you for your comments.

Valerie; Thank you for stopping by.  Yes the third home is quite the charmer.

Leander;  It puzzles me a bit that staging in your neck of the woods doesn't seem to work. It's really quite sad to think that homes are sitting on the market for up to and over a year without selling. Staged or not.  Maybe something else is going on?  Staging is never a cure all...It's just a great marketing tool that addresses the homes presentation.  Thanks for your comments.

Alan;  Thank you for your complements.  Thank you for taking the time to comment.

Cindy;  Thank you and Woo hoo to you too.

Tanya;  Warm, inviting and spacious rooms always helps the sale.  Thanks for stopping by.

Marcia;  You are right; Buyers do need a place they can relate to and give them a sense of how their lives will fit.  Thank you for stopping by and commenting

Gene; Marketing leader, not sure that's it.  But I do indeed love what I do and how that helps move people forward with their lives.  Thank you for your comments.

Bob & Carolin:  You bet.  Homes and Homesellers today need every advantage they can get.  Thank you for stopping by.

Karen: Thank you, You got me on the lighting issue.  It is not re-painted. I'm also working on becoming a better photographer.  Thanks for stopping by .

Hi Linda, I am not one to comment on anyone's photography.  I find the photography the most challenging aspect of this profession.  Great staging.

Staging an empty home is important.  So many buyers can't even imagine what to do with empty rooms, they need to see what someone else did first.  Staging actually makes the rooms look bigger if it's done correctly.

Amy; Thank you for stopping by and commenting.

Richard; I have been known to say a time or two; that people buy into and can relate to a lifestyle and they love to envision how they will fit into the home. Showcasing a lifestyle helps them along the way.  Thanks for stopping by.

Cindy; Thank you for stopping by and commenting.  I really appreciate it.
