"Step by Step, stair by stair, be patient, believe, before long you'll be there."
-Marc Erlbaum
Patience is a key word in the real estate business... especially for new agents. It takes patience to establish yourself as a local expert and let the process work for you.
Patience is often a big stumbling block for new licensee because they are not adequately financed. They come into the business "needing" to make immediate sales. Needing to make sales is never a good way to establish your reputation. Doing the right thing is always the best way to do business, regardless of the consequence of making a sale or not.
The real estate licensing school was child's play when it comes to the education you need to be a successful agent. You must continue to learn every day. That is your stairway to success.
Be patient, AND persistent.
"Patience is often a big stumbling block for new licensee because they are not adequately financed. " I don't know if there are any surveys that have been done to find out why real estate agents leave at such high rates, but I would guess that this is probably the main one.

Good morning Carol. I lost an agent just last month. He tried for a full three weeks and not getting a listing or securing a buyer he quit. No patience at all.

Hi Carol... by nature, I'm not a patient person... and I've often said over the past 25 years that if this business has taught me anything, it's a level of patience I never knew I could have!
And by the way, here's my suggestions for second chance Saturday post. Practical advice for all listing agents to know.

Good morning Carol Williams ,
Excellent post because many new agents do need a sale and patience is not a trait one possesses when there are creditors knocking at your door. Patience is a must in this business as doing the right thing for your client is always how you must practice your business. You are right patience is the stairway to success.

As a tech trainer onboarding new agents, I see this all the time. They give up their job to start this career, thinking it's easy money. They soon learn that it is persistance over time to buid a business.

Good morning Beth Bromund .
Yes, I believe the lack of funding is the main reason so many new real estate agents drop out within 2 years. That, and the other misconceptions they had about the business.
Good morning Debra Leisek . You won't have to wait too long. It is scheduled for 1:00 Pacific time today. By the way did you know the Mershon's in Homer?
Good morning James Dray . Gosh, he must have had rose-colored implants in his eyes, eh? Never did see reality, did he?
Good morning Nina Hollander . If you're like me, you actually do have patience except when other people aren't doing their job and we end up waiting waiting waiting... or doing their job for them! I have lots of patience when people deserve it. LOL
And... thanks for the Second Chance suggestion. That was a great one.

Good morning faye schubert . Those darned rose colored glasses must be given out free somewhere... with a subliminal message exuding from them... "go get your real estate license. You can work whenever you want and make lots of money".
Good morning Sheila Anderson . I think we all have to work on our patience factor... especially when other people don't do their jobs in a timely manner.

I was reading or listening to something recently and they were talking about success, and the main point was to be successful you need to be a life long learner.Always being willing to learn from every experience.
