Suspended Cycle Roundabout

BEING A REALTOR + LOVING IT means checking out real estate and development almost everywhere I visit and see on video. When it's a natural, organic interest, you can never tire of it. Then there is the interest in art and architecture. And the desperate want for better traffic flow!

So... This caught my eye this morning. Enjoy!

ENGINEERING MARVEL

Hovenring is the World’s first suspended bicycle path roundabout. A 70-metre tall central pylon, 24 steel cables & a circular bridge deck made out of approximately 1,000 tons of steel! The cables are attached to the inner side of the bridge deck, right where the bridge deck connects to the circular, concrete counter weight. This helps prevent torsion within the 72-metre diameter bridge deck. To ensure stability, concrete was added to sections of the bridge deck along with M-shaped supports.

It's located in The Netherlands. Watch this video to learn more. https://lnkd.in/fu3CUuy

Wow, that's a wonderful bike path - and you'd get a work out going up the ramps to get their also.

Love that bike path! What a unique and probably a safe from car traffic idea.
