You Do Use Texting In Your Marketing, Right?

KWKLY Text To LeadThe other day I was scrolling my twitter feed when I caught a stat, 90% of text messages are read within 3 minutes. This piqued my curiosity, so I dug deeper and found some more stats.

  • Over 6 Billion text messages are sent each day in the U.S.

Last year, I bought a home. Before I ever called, I texted a realtor, that's just how I prefer to communicate. The other day, an insurance agent prospected me for my business. She called, I didn’t answer. She texted me, I responded within minutes. (true story) What’s the point? The common thread in every stat that I reference above is that each of those people are consumers or future potential clients of yours.

Texting works for me. I do not cold text however.

A lot of people can say what they want through a text that they cannot say through the phone.

I actually still prefer face to face at the start but texting definitely has a place in my usage.

However, I usually delete any cold text I get from anyone marketing something. I used to open them but with the ability of the hackers to take over phone data...I have since quit.  In fact...I block the number.

Different strokes/folks.  Some live by text, others abhor it.  Know what your clients' preferred method of communication is and use it.

I find a quicker response from clients with texts.  People sit in meetings and airports and check text messages, usually quicker than emails.

No. I'm not sure I endorse this at all. Yes, I like texting and it's marvelous and efficient and everything else, and I use it with clients. But for advertising, it's really annoying and too intrusive - I totally dislike it for that purpose. Advertisers that text me soon find themselves deleted and blocked.

I'm sorry for blowing your bubble as an advertiser.

Great Topic!   My broker teases me for texting so much!  I agree with you that the majority of home buyers/sellers want quick responses and easy contact methods.  I always ask customers which contact method they prefer at our first contact. 

I like the text trails for special notes that are always on my phone to refer back to.  Realtors text a lot!  However, there are a  FEW customers not having smart  phones or even cell phones.

In reference to odd email names I've received the impressive, weird, funny, vulgar & strange over the years:-)

If I didn't text to communicate .. it would put a quick end to much of my communication with clients and referral partners.  I do market via texting too, although not as much as I probably should.  The stats quoted here have convinced me of that.  Do wish that the advice provided here took other real estate-related professionals into consideration a bit more ... just a suggestion??
