The Highest Compliment

What do you consider the greatest compliment you can receive in your business?

To me, the greatest compliment is when people refer their children to me.  It is always a great compliment and tremendous responsibility when people trust me with their most important purchase.  But, it is an even greater compliment for them to trust me with their children!

What is the greatest compliment you have ever received in your business?

"Thank you for a job well done!"  Is the most satisfying compliment one can receive.

Hi Carol;

My greatest compliment is when people refer their family and friends to me. It shows that you did a super job for them.

Hi Carol ~ Referrals are always a significant compliment but I have to agree working with the kids is the best.  It does mean they trust you with their most prized possession.

BTW are you going to Inman in July?  It's on your side of the coast!  Maybe if you do we could meet...

Hi Kristal:   Would love to go to Inman but probably not this year.   I'll write you more in a direct e-mail.

Anthony:  Exactly

Jim:  It's always nice to get a pat on the back for a job well done.

Carol - I agree, and I always tell them i will treat them like their my own kids!

The greatest compliment I ever received was when a Short Sale client of mine told me that when he told his mother that I had sold his house and helped him put his life back in order.  He told me that his mother cried and told him to tell me that she was going to pray and thank God for sending me to him.  I was blown away and humbled by such a story.

Carol,  it's a good thing when a couple refers their children.  I think it's equally as awesome when the kids refer their parents.  It's really an honorable thing when adult children refer me to their parents as a trusted consultant.

Carol Culkin:  I bet you treat all your clients that way!

Steve:  Wow... stories like that make all the crappy days worthwhile.

Cedric:  Good point!

I agree Carol.  People asking you to help their children is a big one for me as well.  I know how much I appreciate anyone who does anything for my children.

Most of my clients stay in touch for years.  Come over for dinner.  One called me from the hospital when the twins were born before she called her own mother :)  The relationships are ongoing more than half the time, and many if not most of our friends are "past clients".

ARDELL:  It is amazing how many clients become some of our best friends.  We were even invited to the private (family only) wedding dinner for one of my clients a couple years ago.   The rest of the story on my latest referral is that the parent is an active appraiser in our market and knows most of the agents so it's a double honor.

Carol, I agree. A referral from a past client is the greatest complement a real estate agent can receive.

Good Post!

I think my favorite compliments are when clients are possessive when introducing me - "This is OUR Realtor, Geordie". It means that I've given them great service and made them feel like the focus of my day.

The other is when clients tell friends that they "have to" call me. It's not advice or a suggestion but a directive! I love when I have earned that kind of trust and confidence.

what a great and unique point.

I cannot tell you how many realtor cards I see that say , "the greatest compliment is a referrral"

I have never heard the greates complement is a referral from you children; -

it's fabulous.
