The Summit homes were built beginning in the mid 1980s, and offer a variety of floor plans, the Carlsbad Schools, and close proximity to shopping, dining and a host of services in both Carlsbad and nearby Oceanside. What’s it Like to Live in The Summit in Carlsbad?
The Summit is an ungated community with a variety of single story and 2-story floor plans, with designs ranging from 1,595 SF (single story homes) up to 3,135 SF, with 3 - 5 bedrooms, 2 to 3 baths, private yards and attached 2- and 3-car garages. These homes were popular when they were first built, and have remained so, with only a limited number sold in any given year; some of the residents are original owners! As noted above, some of the homes, especially on the highest points looking west, east and south, offer gorgeous views.
The Summit does not have an HOA or any additional fees which appeals to many buyers. Properties in The Summit are well maintained and residents obviously take great pride in their homes and their neighborhood.
What’s Near The Summit Neighborhood?
The Summit is within a range of shopping area, services and dining options in both Carlsbad, along El Camino Real (e.g., Sprouts and Vons grocery stores) about 2 miles away, and along College Boulevard and the 78 corridor in Oceanside! Carlsbad Village is about 4 miles to the west, with abundant shopping and dining, as are the Carlsbad beaches.
Commuters will appreciate the I-5 freeway less than 3 miles away as well as the 78 freeway running east and west. The commuter train station is in Carlsbad Village and busses run nearby on Tamarack, El Camino and Carlsbad Village Drive. El Camino Real provides a good north-south commuting route for those wishing to avoid the freeways.
What Schools will the Children Living in The Summit Attend?
According to the Carlsbad Unified School district website (the school locator application) children in The Summit community will attend the highly-ranked Hope Elementary and Calavera Hills Middle Schools, and either the Carlsbad High School or the Sage Creek High School (a S.T.E.M. school).
What Do Homes in The Summit Neighborhood Cost?
There have been limited home sales in 2016, a total of 3 ranging in price from $670,000 to $699,000 – all homes were under 2000 SF. A beautiful ocean view home with pool at one of the highest points in The Summit sold for $861,000 in late 2015. Currently there are no homes for sale, and one home priced at $729,500 that is pending.
