Today I attended a funeral for a friend at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO.
Once we arrived at the designated holding area, I stepped out of the car and was taken aback by the sheer number of headstones lined up on all sides of me.
They do a great job of keeping this place nicely manicured even though thousands of geese have layed claim to the area. In fact, during the service, the honking geese made it hard to hear what was being said.
Fort Logan was established in 1887 and was turned into a national cemetery in 1950. It has over 122,000 internments spanning over 214 acres.
If these grave sites could talk, I am sure there would be some incredible stories to be told.
Burial to this cemetery is open to all members of the armed services as long as they did not leave the service with a dishonorable discharge. It is also open to the veteran's spouse, widow or widower and minor dependent children.
