Celebrating The Weekend With #39 On The Top 100 List!

We have been exploring Jane's (owner of Carpinteria Wines) selections from the Wine Spectator's Top 100 List for 2016.  Bodegas Borsao Garnacha Campo de Borja Tres Picos has a 91 rating.  We enjoyed it so much, we bought another bottle.  The price is right, $14.99 at Carpinteria Wines.

 

We really enjoyed this wine, made from the G grape, and here is the Wine Spectator's review:

"A plush texture masks the firm structure, as blackberry and boysenberry flavors mingle with toast, menthol and mineral notes, backed by well-integrated tannins. Drink now through 2020."

I have no idea what brand I'm drinking right now except it is a Garancha blended with another red I had never heard of until I opened the bottle.  It was a holiday gift and a nice change.  Cheers!

James Dray Grenache or Garnacha is one of the most widely planted red wine grape varieties in the world. It ripens late, so it needs hot, dry conditions such as those found in Spain, where the grape most likely originated. (from Wiki).

Hot dry conditions create an earthier wine with intense flavors.  This had great flavor.
