When Walt Disney set out to build Disneyland he was to nearly as successful as would be. Walt Disney Studio's was doing well but did not have the kind of capital it takes to build something like Disneyland. To raise money, Walt did what most of us would do, he went to banks, many, many banks who all basically laughed at the idea of a Amusement Park in the middle of an orange grove.
Walt continue to seek capital investments through every avenue he could think of and eventually landed it through American Broadcasting Company (ABC). Walt pre-sold a show, "The Wonderful World of Disney" which would be broadcast weekly from Disneyland and hosted by Walt Himself on the ABC Network.
Many years later, Disney eventually purchased the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). Who would have ever guessed the guy who could not get a bank loan to build an "Amusement Park in an orange grove" would eventually buy the guys who funded him.
