Yesterday was a wonderful day here in the Hubert, Swansboro North Carolina area.  The sun was shining, not a cloud in the sky and it was gloriously warm!

A friend and her little one had called the day before and asked if they could come for an overnight visit.  So when we awoke to this divine day, I made the decision to take a mental health day.

There were many fun things we could have done and you can read about some of them here but for me, a beach girl, the decision was a no brainer!

I announced at breakfast that we were packing a picnic and heading for the beach to spend the day!  From that moment, it was total chaos and inefficient activity but eventually we got organized, out the door and on our way.

Take a look at our day and see why I love our Onslow County North Carolina beaches so very much.  Keep in mind  Camp Lejeune and New River Air Station families that Onslow Beach is only a short drive away and a wonderful place to spend a fun and lovely day.

Cynthia, Your beach looks just beautiful, I'm glad you had a wonderful beach day.  I was wondering with the gas prices and tolls to get into Jones Beach even that's going to be a big expense this year...

Hi Cynthia,

Aren't mental health days taken at the beach wonderful!?!  It looks like a gorgeous beach...your photos are awesome and now I feel like taking another mental health day at one of my local beaches (although it's cooled down here a bit and we're now getting a more normal spring).

Aren't the beaches great? I have so many fond memories of the summer we spent traveling the Carolinas- we went from one beach to the next. Now you have me hoping to take a mental health week. :-)

Hi Cynthia...You are hitting me where it hurts.  There is nothing better than being by the water.

My favorite months are May and September.  That is when I love to escape to the beach.  It is not crowded and never too hot.  Absolutely perfect.

The two little girls are adorable.

Thank you for these wonderful photos.  Makes me wonder what I am doing here in my office.

How cool to live so close to the beach! I bet the water is still a bit chilly, but perfect on a nice hot day.

Carole,
It was so good to have a day to relax, clear the mind and just enjoy the weather, beach and play!  Yes, gas prices are going to affect many activities.

Hi Jo,
A day at the beach is worth a week anywhere else in my world.  The salt air, the water and just nature rekindle my soul.  Thank you.

What a great day, well deserved!  Your beaches are so beautiful I would be there more if I were a bit closer!

It looks like a beautiful beach and I'm jealous you have warm enough temps to go. I live by Lake Michigan and take mental health days, but our temperatures aren't there yet. When it gets 80 here I will have to blog about our beaches here. Our water temperature is about 40 degrees. :)

Cynthia,

I love those days. I tried that today and I have been hunted down by clients. So I just decided to work for a few hours and take the evening off. Have a great Mother's Day.

Cynthia, this post about your mental health day at the beach, reminded me of what I ask Realtors to do all the time, take some time off, and don't burn out. You are a shining example of balance and thanks for sharing such wonderful photos. A beach with the sound of the waves and the breeze is always relaxing for any of us.

Hi Chuck,
Yes, NC beaches are the best and anyone who hasn't had the pleasure needs to come on down.  Thanks.

Hello Kathleen,
Sorry about that and I do agree with you May and September are wonderful times at the beach and here October can be even better.  Hope you can have your own beach mental health day soon.  :0)

Sonja,
I wanted some snow back in January or February but am so thankful Spring is here for us!

Cynthia,

I like your idea of a mental health day so much that I'm doing it this very day.  Actually, it's going to be a mental health HALF day.  I have to get a file out.  thanks for the idea, and for sharing your ocean.

Nice.  Wish I was there.  We have some nice beaches up here in Delaware, about 1/2 hour from Dover Air Force Base.  Rehoboth and Dewey Beaches are really nice.  Then, if you head a little farther south on Rt. 1 you're in Ocean City, MD, where there are miles of nice beaches.  It's still a little cool here yet but it won't be long.  I could definitely use a "mental health day."  I'd love to take it down there.  Maybe some time soon . . .

Craig,
The water is definitely still too chilly for me but not for the kids!  Thanks.

Hi Diane,
I know it's a long drive for you but hope you can make it back down our way soon to enjoy our lovely beaches.  Thank you.

Dave,
I'll be looking forward to reading about your beaches.  How warm does the water get there?

 Hi Keith,
Well, that would be nice but we do have to eat!  We did have a wonderful day and we'll do it again soon.

Hello Jennifer,
Well, hope on a plane and come on down!  There's nothing like a day at the beach to renew my spirits.  Thank you.

Hello Wil,
Yes, it was a fun and restful day...much needed I might add.  Enjoy your time at Wrightsville.

Joni,
That is too bad, sure does make for a short summer for you, doesn't it? I do love the warm weather.

Hi Thom,
Living close to the beach is certainly nice and makes it easy to get those mental health days.  A week would be nice, but that's not in my near future either.  Good luck with your "house chores".  Thanks.

Susan,
Sorry you were not able to take some well, deserved time off but it's good to have clients hunting you down too.

Hello Gary,
You give good advice and I do believe I am more productive and better able to cope after a day of relaxation.  Thank you.

Hi Jennifer B.
So good to hear from you and thanks for the Mother's Day wish, a belated one to you also.  Take care.

Kathy,
The beach is the best place for all of those things, the salt water and air does wonders for my state of mind.  Thank you.

Hi Mike,
I hope you did take the Mental Health 1/2 day and that it was relaxing and invigorating!  We need these days.

Gita,
It takes a lot of self discipline on these first warm days of Spring.  Thanks.

Mickey,
My brother and his family who live in Northern Virginia love Rehoboth and been trying to get us to come up that way.  We're going to do just that soon.

Hello Gary,
I'll share the entire beach with all of you.  Come on down, you'll love it!  Thanks.

Oh such fun.....I like someone that can "make a decision" and especially one that takes advantage of company and a good day at the beach :)  Looks like a great beach.......and with all the work that you've been doing you sure deserved a day off :)
