New England won again so whats new?

Super Bowl LI was not an upset... unless you count all the people who were upset by another New England Patriots win!

There will be lots written about his game.   There are takeaways that will be used by coaches forever!

So, what about those of us who are not involves in sports?  There are still lessons.... such as:

  • Keep going.  So what if the circumstances (score) is against you. You are still in the game. Don't give up!
  • Don't focus on the current circumstances. Rather, focus on the goal (line). Don't listen to the naysayers and negative Nellie's!  There will be those on the sidelines telling you that it is all over.  Your competitors may even be telling you its over. You know the Atlanta Falcons players were trash talking across the line and on every tackle!
  • Do what got you there.  Rely on the skills that have brought you success so far.  Ultimately the Patriots counted heavily on the arm of Tom Brady!
  • Sometimes it takes longer than you expected.  Even in this game there was over time.  Sure the odds were against the Patriots but that did not stop them from sticking with it until the end.

The points above were all demonstrated by the New England Patriots.  Let's not forget the lesson that the Atlanta Falcons demonstrated as well.

  • A good start does not mean success.  While a good start is better than tripping out of the gate, that is not wining.  In sales you are only as good as your last score.

There are so many lessons that can be learned from Super Bowl LI.  What will be remembered most?  New England won again so whats new?

This may be my favorite post in 2017. The fact that your perception triggered these words is a testament to what must be a positive attitude. I wish you were closer so we could work together.

Thanks, Matt.  The fact that I supported to Falcons aside I had to see the good in the example. Like my granddaughter Alyssa said last week...I can't be sad. I have to be happy!

Gary- excellent post. At the half, I told Larry that the Falcons coach needs to keep his team up because Brady and crew were coming out with fire in their eyes!  First overtime game in Super Bowl history as well.

I have to agree with Matt Brady, this may be my favorite 2017 post!!!

I saw the Falcons as letting up some and that is not smart with the Two Bs... Belichick and Brady!

I was upset.  But hey, in the end... it was just a game.  It bascially has zero meaning on my life.

I did not expect such an insignful lesson for our businesses to come out of this year's Super Bowl drama, but here it is! Thanks for hitting all the right points, Gary.

Thanks. I had to look for something positive since I was rooting for the Falcons!  Look for the sun in spite of clouds...

Wow a great analogy! Even though I was rooting for the Falcons, I knew Tom Brady and team had what it takes to pull off the win. I'm a Ravens fan, so I have great dislike for the Patriots. However, they did deserve the win.

I was hoping for the upset as well but he best team won. I rooted for the Redskins when I lived in Maryland years ago (Hagerstown).

You are so right! I don't follow football, but came in the house and turned the TV on a little after 6:00. I saw the score and thought "Wow - I thought the Patriots were supposed to win this one."

I was in and out of the room, so got a surprise when the game was suddenly tied, and sat down to watch the end.

Looking at the scores from each quarter, it occurred to me that the Falcons must have gotten a little too sure of themselves early in the game - and that might just be the other lesson to be learned here. (As well as from the recent election.)

If you're behind, don't quit - but if you're ahead, don't relax and get cocky. You just might lose!

I think you are on target with this assessment.. I thought the Falcons rested on their first half while the Patriots pushed ahead!

So right...Never ever give up...Hat's off to Brady

They won for the 5th time in the last 17 years of Super Bowls so you could look at it as 12 years of failure or 5 years of becoming the greatest pro football team of all time.

Hi Gary,
New England was able to extend the game beyond the Atlanta defense capability.  The better conditioned team won - Atlanta's defense was on the field for 90+ plays, about 50% more than they were used too.  They were gassed. Being prepared has so many components. You just never know which one will make the difference.

Winning take determination . . . .  hard work . . . . and to keep pushing the obstacles we encounter.

We are not given a Super Bowl ring  . . . . it's earned.

Good luck and success.
