What Makes a Good Title Company?

PART II

YOU MIGHT BE A GOOD CLOSER IF...

You can meet yourself coming and going...

You  know what the customer wants before they do...

You don't have a problem with  12 hours days...

You  have a cadaver bone in your neck for extra strength like I do...(OPTIONAL)

You  enjoy Slim Fast...or eating at your desk out of a sack...

You enjoy and always expect the unexpected...

You can continue your closing even if your 8' ficas tree has been knocked over onto the closing table by a four-year old jumping on a chair and opening up an unbrella...

You  know that if you receive your closing instructions at 4:00, you still are expected to close that same day...

You know how to close in a parking lot, house full of screaming kids or on a checkered table-top in a loud restaurant...

You perform well even if your dad and father-in-law die the same year that you open your branch office and build your house...

You leave your car parked at work so long that you have ants in your back-seat floorboard...but you met your deadlines...

You  have about 3 working copiers in your office of seven...

You can close your file the day after you receive your title order if asked to...

You know how to "pretend to be nice", no matter what, and do it well...

You can continue your closing during a breast-feeding session...

You can close your file if your plants are being destroyed, your wood blinds pulled down and your walls are being colored on by a 2 year old who's parents are oblivious...

You should have a good sense of humor, otherwise the stress will kill you...

Oh, don't forget the mult-tasking part--

Most of all though, you should have a good TEAM!!!! (LIKE WE DO)

We do whatever it takes to get the job done and KEEP YOU HAPPY!!!

Hi Stacy,

I'm with you on every thing except for the breast feeding session.  I try not to breast feed at the closing table.

LOL...Patrick...I HOPE you wouldn't do that!

No, I wouldn't (ha) -- but, someone else did that was at the closing. I guess there's a first time for just about everything...we got the transaction closed though!

Well, I haven't encountered the breast-feeding thing however, we did close a deal last week in a "standing-room only" pizza shop during their busy lunch rush!  That was interesting......and loud!!  Hopefully, the county recorder will ignore the pizza sauce stain on the deed.

Good post Stacy!

Yes, sounds like your closing was a fun one, too. We should compare notes...sometime.. Thanks!

I would have to add to this list a few of the 'interesting' places I have done closings like nursing homes, bowling alley, and even JAIL. (yes, I have gone to jail to get signatures from a seller who was imprisoned).

We also do many mobile closings at customer's homes (especially for seniors and reverse mortgages) and would have to say a good closer has to be comfortable in ANY situation or home and must still be able to flash a friendly smile even when sitting in a dirty home that smells like cat litter, moldy cheese and stinky feet.

James....the moldy cheese, stinky feet and cat litter....not me.  That's beyond "the extra mile" lol

James, I've also had to put on a contamination suit while doing a closing at the VA Hospital once. Although the customer wanted to return "my pen," I said, "no, that's ok, you can just keep the pen." I've even been to the AR Hospital for the Criminally Insane, with specific instructions from an underwriter on what they needed done.  That was another weird and unusual experience to add to the list. Maybe I'll write a book one day, who knows..

David, Lately (upon request), we are becoming experts at doing closings during tornado sirens, aren't we?
