What Makes You Referrable?
I was recently asked to respond to an on-line Business Group Q&A - and the question was asked What Makes You Referrable? This business group includes a variety of professions. My response follows and after that I will share 10 Valuable Comments from other businesses that I felt were share-worthy.
Q. What Makes You Referrable?
Referrals are important in any business. As a REALTOR for 23 years, my husband and I have always treated every client (buyer, seller or renter) like we would want to be treated – like they are part of our family – with honesty, integrity, honor, professionalism, premium personal service and to be available … quick to respond to every call, text or email.
We are independently owned and to date have sold thousands of homes by working hard, making our customers #1 ... and because we "listen" to our client's hopes, needs, concerns and dreams ... we help make their dreams come true and become a reality.
Experience, technical skill, disclosure of information and knowledge of our area and business goes a long way. When you have a Happy Client they are bound to tell their family and friends in the form of a Referral. In the years (2009-2012) when real estate was very slow due to the downturn in the market, we made it through not because we spent a lot of money in advertising, but because of the faithful past clients who told their friends about us, about our service, and results. Reputation is key to Referrals.

1. Flexibility, fun, creative, informative, punctual, reliable and mobile.
2. Honest, reliable and good customer service.
3. People tend to refer someone they trust. If I feel that a project is outside my scope of ability, I am the first to speak up and say so.
4. Start a conversation with potential customers. Find common ground and share stories. When we discuss their needs I educate them on the process I use to meet and exceed their expectations.
5. I always do what is best for my customer. This creates exceptional trust; the foundation for long term relationships. "If it's not good for my customer, it's not good for me."
6. Experience, skills, work ethics, knowledge, and amiability.
7. I encourage that we always look for ways to help them, too, without concern for reciprocation. What makes me referable is that I go out of my way to help them, first.
8. Happy Customers!!!! Makes us referable. We have a long track record of being Dependable, Conscientious, Timely, with a high level of professionalism.
9. We serve, we solve, we satisfy. It's that simple.
10. Listen more and talk less. Negotiate calmly but forcefully on your clients' behalf. Most important, if you don't know, say I don't know and then go find out. Stay positive and enthusiastic.
