Hello Connie, hate to say it but I love to see photos like these.  It makes the staged competition look even better.  If staged homes are the most marketable in any category, there always has to be least marketable in that same category.  I think these photos definitely represent that end of the spectrum.

YIKES !!! Connie ! It looks like a tornadoe went through!  They allscream  S.O.S. Some people just don'y get it huh?

Susan ~ unfortunatly, all too aften

Gary ~ yes, it makes staged homes MUCH more marketable (exactly my point).  I can't say they are at the bottom of the spectrum, a couple of these properties are higer end properties, except you can't tell that from the pictures, only by the price-point.  A picture says a 1,000 words, and in these cases not many of those words would be complimentary.

Fernando ~ see post above ;-)

Connie ~ I can never understand why people don't "see" this.  I hate any mess in my own home, and I'm not the greatest housekeeper in the world.  If I find out last minute someone is coming over, I rush around wiping things down and picking stuff up, and here it can't even be done for pictures that are going to be seen by hundreds of people.  And then they wonder why no one is interested in their home.

05/08/2008 01:29 PM by Kathy Passarette, L.I. Staging/Decorating (Creative Home Expressions)

Kathy ~ Can you beleive that the last photo is actually the formal Living and Dining Rooms?!?!?  You have to look close through all that clutter and kids games, but that is the front door in the background.... (big sigh) and this Realtor is right next door...

UUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!  That's why I cannot watch our local real estate channel; I get irate with the photos and yell obscentities at the TV!!  I had the guy who runs our local station on the radio show a while back and he said they have a "wall of shame" at the station with some of the worst photos

05/08/2008 03:43 PM by Tori Lynn Ross - Omaha's Premier Home Stager (Ross Designs, LLC)

Tori Lynn ~ "Wall of Shame" is funny, SO sad, but funny

Interesting that no Realtors are commenting on this post.....

Ok, I just changed my mind about a comment I just made on a another blog. Not all listings should have photo's on the internet

I don't know,  do you shoot the home seller or the Realtor??  I say both!  Good grief what were they thinking????

05/08/2008 07:27 PM by Sandra Hughes-Redesigned Spaces-Virginia Redesigned Spaces - Fairfax County, VA (Redesigned Spaces - Northern Virginia)

Ronelle ~ So true, a BAD picture can hurt the sale of a home more than it helps

Sandra ~ don't shoot anyone, but intestingly enough I have another/different blog posted on 5 different Realtor Forums and NOT ONE has responded to it - unbeliveable!

Connie:  I have a presentation where one section is called "MLS = Must Love Staging" - and I show bad MLS pictures.  REAs love it - it's a scream!  Julie

Bad photos, my pet hate.

It's not that hard to tidy and take photos of the property that truly represent the home to propective buyers.

Good post Connie.

05/14/2008 06:24 PM by Adam Luttrell, Shift by Design - Australia (Shift by Design)

lol... I'm pretty sure I staged that last home... I have a home whose before photos look just sooo similiar.  (Ok, it wasn't really that house, but one that looks just like it!)  What are they thinking?

05/14/2008 09:25 PM by Melissa Marro www.StagingAndRedesign.com www.RedesigningCharleston.com (First Impressions)

Maybe this is why some agents don't post photos. They might not be able to get the sellers to do anything. Sometimes when I have contacted the agent, it's the seller that does not want to invest any time or money.  I can't look at to many MLS photos, because I just want to call every seller and say LET ME HELP YOU PLEASE! Good post Connie.

05/14/2008 10:14 PM by Donna Schoby, Ready, Set, Stage! Fayetteville, AR (Ready, Set, Stage! Serving Northwest Arkansas)

Melissa ~ Have any after photos?  That pepto pink in the bathroom is enough to make anyone sick.

Donna ~ LOL,  as mentioned above.  A picture says a 1,000 words and pictures such as these can hurt a listing more than help.

05/15/2008 05:24 PM by Connie Tebyani, Platinum Home Staging Serving Los Angeles and Ventura Counties (Platinum Home Staging, Inc.)

We see it all the time and wonder what was the agent thinking, why not get the owner to pre-pack for their move and get the home uncluttered.

05/16/2008 01:31 AM by Patty & Scott Carroll - RE/MAX, Vancouver WA (RE/MAX Equity Group)

Good Point Patty & Scott (I'm not sure which responded=)  ~ Yes, why not get the home owners to start the moving process NOW instead of getting all flustered and overwhelmed IF the house sells - if it ever does! With these pics you have to wonder if they are even getting any showings.

05/16/2008 08:48 AM by Connie Tebyani, Platinum Home Staging Serving Los Angeles and Ventura Counties (Platinum Home Staging, Inc.)

It boggles the mind!  How they make the conscious choice of selecting those photos to represent their house is beyond me.  Cost is not an excuse...most of these photos could be improved by simply cleaning...staging would be ideal, but please clean it up and put a little thought into the photo and the angle of the shot.  I think it is more laziness and  lack of professionalism, not an issue of cost.

Hi Connie - I can't stop laughing(and crying) because as I was looking at these pictures the music playing was "I did it MY WAY!!!!"  Now they need to do it the Home Stager way!  :)

05/16/2008 11:43 AM by Janice Sutton - Temecula Murrieta Home Stager - Home Staging (1st Stage Property Transformations )

Sharon ~ You mean you can't envision having Thanksgiving dinner in pics 1 & 2 or having a quite meal with family in pic #6?  I sure can't can't - not while playing basketball!

Janice ~ LOL, I never thought about that when I was making my music list =)
