Listing Your Davie Home? Yes, You Should Repaint

When you’re about to list your home in Davie you need to begin looking at it as a product you are presenting to the market.

Fresh paint can play a big role in that presentation, especially if you’ve used paint to express your creativity.

First, fresh paint looks and smells clean and fresh. It makes a house feel new.

Second, fresh paint in a neutral color will allow a potential buyer to visualize his or her own furnishings and decorating preferences. You may love that turquoise, purple, or bright red wall – but how many potential buyers will share your taste? Chances are, not many.

It’s easy to say that a buyer will be free to repaint as they wish, but many buyers are unable to see beyond the colors, while others simply don’t want to have that work or expense before moving in. As a result, rooms or walls painted in bold or distinctive colors will often cause buyers to keep looking, even if they liked everything else about the house.

This is why your agent will recommend fresh paint throughout – and suggest using a neutral color to repaint any walls and rooms that make a bold color statement.

Neutral doesn’t have to be boring. It’s not necessary to use beige or white, although white does happen to be “in” right now. Gray, in all its various shades and intensities, is one of this year’s popular “neutral” choices, as is (surprisingly) sage green.

Would you like more tips on giving your Davie home a more universal appeal? Call me. I’ll be glad to share what I’ve learned in talking with buyers over the years.

I agree Michael. It's one of the most cost effective ways to market your home. Staying with neutral colors is best. I've seen buyers walk into a house look at the loud colors and walk right back out w/o even looking at the rest of the home.
