Licensed Realtor® vs. For-Sale-By-Owner – Which Would You Rather Do?

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Market Pro Realty

A few Arkansas Realtors® have recently begun an effort to introduce legislation that would prohibit property owners from selling a home without contracting with a Realtor®.  I don't necessarily agree with the proposed law.

Americans have traditionally been free to make their own decisions, right or wrong, and certainly property ownership is no exception. In fact, property rights were some of the basic rights the founding fathers of our nation valued. An early version of the “Declaration of Independence” stated the rights of the colonists to “life, liberty, and property” instead of the final version of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

On the other hand, there are many reasons to use the services of a Realtor®, some of which are so plain to see that I can’t understand why a buyer or seller would even consider trying to go it alone: To read the entire post please go to my main blogsite at http://www.nwarealestateblog.blogspot.com .

This is interesting. So if I understand you right. I as a owner couldn't sell my own home? What happen to owning my own home. If I am not able to do what I so desire to do with my own home the home that I paid for all these year then what is the since in owning it.

I think home owners need to have the right to try and unload the place on their own. It usually doesnt take to long to figure out they need the assistance and exposure that a seasoned agent can bring. They still need to retain the right to try though.

Judy, thank you for being the voice of reason. As a Realtor® you prove yourself worthy of trust and earn business. This is one way you do that. It's refreshing.
