My latest articles on my flooring and marketing sites

Hi everybody.   I've been working fast and furiously on my wordpress sites.  Sorry that I haven't posted them on here yet, but some of the plugins I have on my site don't translate so well on here, so it's a LOT of work to reformat them, and I just haven't been able to find the time, especially as I've been starting a new business (my apologies).

In the meantime, here are a few highlights.  I'm hoping that some of these will become big hits soon.  (2 of my December articles are doing great already).

  • Porcelain wood planks vs solid hardwoodReal Solid Hardwood vs Porcelain Planks - Advantages and Disadvantages.  I seem to have a lot of people calling and commenting on my blog asking me for advice on which way they go on this, so I thought I'd turn it into a blog post.  This shares the pros and cons for both options.

Side Note:  If you aren't doing graphics like this for your key articles you should!!!  (I.e. pictures and graphics that tell what your article is about).

You should have a horizontal vertical image for your header graphic (mine is usually right under the title and goes fully across the screen).  This is important for more social shares (as this is the image that typically gets shared on FB, Tw, LI, etc).  And, you should have a vertical image for pinterest (check out my article to see how I translated this for a vertical image).

  • 2017 Carpet Trends - This includes trends for carpet runners and area rugs as well.  Can you guess the most popular colors and styles?  Check out the 9 trends that are growing.

  • 7 Ways to save money on hardwood flooring - If you or your clients are in the market for new flooring, you may want to check out this article.  I included several ways that don't sacrifice quality for quantity.

  • 9 installation tools that you need for a DIY hardwood install - While most people hire professional installers (and this is what I would recommend as they can usually do it better and faster), for those do-it-yourselfers out there, at least use the right tools.  And, hopefully they have some of these tools on hand already...as they are not cheap (and hence this may not save you much money).

Feel free to check these out or socially share (since it may be a while before I can post them on here).

I had never heard of porcelain planks until on a home inspection I found a lot of cracked what looked like long ceramic tiles in a kitchen.  I had to look them up to learn what they were!

Hi Debbie - I am all for using hardwood.  My daughter and husband just bought a house in Stamford all hardwood including kitchen.  It looks great.

Love the tip on the orientation of photos, that's so important.  I generally have one of each when I post so I can choose the best one for where I share.
