The question was raised via an Active Rain Challenge earlier this month: please tell us what and why you love being a Beverly Hills, CA Realtor. Why and what do you love about your job?
There are truly so many points I could have addressed and written about, but then I would not want to bore my readers to tears. The hardest part was for me to narrow down the list and then pick a few points to talk about.
Job security, is always important in everyone’s mind. As an example, during the “Great Recession” too many hard-working people in all profession lost their job, not because they were unwilling to work, but because of all the downturn. Here in Beverly Hills when local buyers were taking a pause due to insecurities on the Los Angeles Real Estate market or because they could not get a loan, the International buyers were coming in with all cash and were buying. Sellers, who were in financial difficulties could sell and down size and in addition more opportunities existed for cash rich buyers in Beverly Hills and vicinity. The perspective from international investors was and remains, that the United States and specifically Beverly Hills, CA is one of the safest and most secure investments on the Globe. Can you name how many dedicated, hard -working and honest Realtors lost their job during the recession?
Longevity, most business have rules about hiring or making decisions as to who to keep or cut during a downturn of the economy and often it is based on attitude, energy level and even age. This is accomplished with a reduction of the work force or by early retirement packages. How many other professions can say that the average age of their work force is 57 years old? If you look at the numbers any other profession excluding Real Estate practitioners is 41 years old. How many successful Beverly Hills Realtors do you know, who were asked to leave the profession if they were in the top 10 per cent of their company’s sales force? The best part is, the more experience one has, the more knowledge one has and the better one knows the local Real Estate Market, the more successful one can become.
No income ceiling, as in most other jobs there are salary ranges. The income of a Beverly Hills Realtor is strictly the result of my own activity. The only income limit is placed by my actions or the lack of. I can work as little, or as hard. My manager never came up to me yet and said: “…Endre you need to slow down you have too many listing… or Endre, you need to slow down you had too many closings this year…” These types of restrictions are non-existent. I can sell vacant lots from a low end of $30,000.00 to a high end of $1 Billion. I can sell Single Family Homes from $600,000.00 to $250 million.
Sense of accomplishment, there is nothing better than to see the reaction of a happy client. To illustrate my point, Diane and I were invited to dinner to one of my client’s home. They bought this hip, sexy, home with postcard views of downtown Los Angeles. They were beaming with joy and happiness. They were truly proud and happy to live in the neighborhood and have this great home and share this joy with us. The wife said to me ‘…Endre, you are probably disappointed that we love our home so much, because now there is no reason for us to move again…” Quite the contrary, I had such a sense of fulfillment in the fact, that I was able to facilitate in giving them so much joy and pride of their view home of downtown Los Angeles.
Well I could go on and on, instead let just close with one simple message: Being a Beverly Hills Realtor is not a job it is a career. So, anyone who considers being a Realtor a job, may I suggest to change directions. My attitude drives my effectiveness.
