Camp Perkins, located in the Sawtooth National Recreational Area in the heart of Idaho holds some of my most precious memories. As a child I spent 1-2 glorious weeks there every summer from ages 9-14. At age 14 I started spending several more weeks there each summer as a volunteer and by age 16 I was on full time staff for the entire summer.
I worked every summer at camp until I was 23.
What ended the near decade of my summer employ?
I got married.
But, even my marriage owes a hearty thanks to Camp Perkins.
Camp Perkins is where John and I were introduced.
It is where we spent several summers teaching kids to love the great outdoors by backpacking through the Sawtooth's - some of the most amazing mountain ranges I have ever experienced.
And all of this I commemorated by keeping the T-shirt.
As time goes on, however, those of us that are grown and continue to accumulate material goods know that sentimentality needs an awful lot of storage space. And what is worse, all of this memorabilia generally sits in a box somewhere untouched for years on end.
Such was the plight of all my wonderful years of Camp Perkins shown in T-Shirt form.
Until today.
I met Linette at a Holiday Bazaar last November. A couple of weeks ago I finally dusted off the old bins in the garage, connected with her and...
Look what she did!
Do you have boxes of old t-shirts or memories that sit dusty and unused in a closet or your garage? If you do, do yourself a favor and check out Quilt Perfection on Etsy. She does custom quilts and she ships so you don't have to be local here in the Boise area.
She did an excellent job. I love my Camp Perkins memory quilt!
Happy Valentine's Day!
