With another significant storm forecasted later this week, the City of Aliso Viejo is once again reminding residents to take precautions now.

  

The National Weather Service says a strong storm system will move through Southern California late Thursday night through Saturday, bringing heavy precipitation and winds.

  

You can prepare your home for the rain and help prevent runoff by clearing debris from gutters, downspouts and low areas in yards or patios that could cause water back-ups. Prevent runoff pollution into streets and storm drains by collecting any trash or landscape clippings from your property. Sandbags are available at Orange County Fire Authority Station 57 in Aliso Viejo at 57 Journey, with free sand to fill them available from Fire Station 22 in Laguna Woods at 24001 Paseo de Valencia.

  

The City does its part to prepare for potential rain each year by cleaning catch basins in September and again in January and February.  Regular street sweeping and patrols help keep debris from blocking drains and causing flooding. During rainy events, crews are on call 24/7 to respond to downed trees and flooding in town.
