The Magic of Active Rain
There is magic in the Rain...

Active Rain works if you let it and networking gives you a huge advantage.
I got a call about a year ago from a woman asking me to discuss the possibility of selling a single family home and a two flat in Evanston. The property belonged to her sister who had passed away suddenly and it was now an estate sale.
The seller, the sister had read some reviews of my work in Evanston IL and wanted to talk to me about me listing both of these properties. I gave her a market analysis and she said she felt that they were in line with what she wanted to get for the home and also the 2-flat. This was a savvy woman who had experience in Real Estate sales as a seller and buyer.
The job was done and the client was happy with what I did and we had multiple offers on both properties and got the job done quickly. I thought that was the end of the story but this person called me a few times to shoot the breeze and we are friendly.
Months passed and this client called me and said that her mother had passed away. During the time I was selling her late sister's property we had conversations about how hard it was because her mother was in hospice care and fading.
She told me that she did not know what do do with her mothers house that was located in another state and did I have any suggestions. Just by the magic of Active Rain I had a relationship with a Realtor in this exact area. This person had become more than a commenting friend on Active Rain, we were real friends and had spoken quite a few times for fun. This Active Rain member had helped me with a project I was doing and I was grateful.
I refereed the sale on to this person and it was sold in a very short time and turned out to be a great deal for all involved. The woman was very happy.
I got a call and the client told me she was amazed that I had these connections all over the country. She had gone to the location and met the Active Rain friend I refereed her too and was extremely impressed with what they had done and the service received.
There is no need to mention who the person was unless they want to comment on this great situation.
The reason I am writing this blog post is to say that you can be a more powerful Realtor if you have contacts and friends in other places.
