Referrals

I get a few referrals but it is something that I have not really made a stratigy to do. Most of the work I get is some relocation and first time buyers. I guess I just have not been pushy enough in this area. Is there a best time to ask past clients or something I'm missing altogether? In this tight market this is something that is a useful tool that should be utilized with past clients.
