Earlier this week I saw a question that asked "what is your most popular post?" I saw a lot of people that I respect a lot who said I don't have time to look for that, who cares, what does it matter etc. Well I thought I might talk about why it matters, at least to me.
First, defining popular post for me has zero to do with comments. I love my AR peeps, but your comments don't keep me coming back here. I do love learning and reading your posts too though. But for me, popular is those that have the most views. And even knowing which have been my most popular on social media where I always use the short URL to keep up those click through numbers.
These are my posts with the most clicks. And while some of them are informational and I'm glad people are reading them they don't always bring me business, but I feel they show the knowledge I have about my market and real estate. However the post that just keeping bringing me business from this list is the Forest Lake Village post. It's one of my "farm" areas and one I know well. And I've sold a LOT of property in there over the past 25 years.
Watching that post climb and the phone continuing to ring with "I'd like to see this house in Forest Lake Village" phone calls has lead me to do more and more subdivisions posts. I have several that have hit more than 5000 click throughs in the years since I did that one. So knowing which post that brings business is indeed important to me.
I'm not trying to win a popularity contest here I'm growing my business. And I suspect if you go and click on your views tab and figure out which posts with the most views over and over that can directly bring you business and write more posts like that you can grow your business too.
I also like to know which of the posts that I share on social media get the most traffic there, so I use the short URL when I post them on FB or twitter. The one with 770 click throughs. If I had had twelve listings like that one I could have sold them all in the first week. I had so many offers on that property. It ended after a bidding war selling for over list with a cash deal with no contingencies. So I know that when I list a property with land with it that social media really will work. Again, I just had to change my stats to "LIFETIME" and click on the short URL clicks heading and see which posts had the most. It only took me a few short minutes to find "my most popular" business related posts and know two things I need to do more of to get more business.
So all you "don't have time to find that" people just really want might want to re-think and figure out which posts are working for you.
