Some Thoughts On The Active Rain Q&A...

By
Real Estate Agent with Serving the Greater Phoenix and Scottsdale Metropolitan Area BR534744000 & BR540649000

Some of us remember the brouhaha last year when non-real estate related questions were being deleted without explanation from the Q&A.

That event unfortunately spiraled out of control, with a couple of long time members launching a personal attack on the "deleter", resulting in their "banishment" from the 'Rain.

Since that time I personally have focused on ONLY asking real estate related questions (when I happen to ask a question), but I have noticed that the Q&A is drifting away from the "real estate related only" directive, making me wonder if that directive has changed, or whether we are just seeing some natural "drifting".

What say you?

Hi Tony and Suzanne - I don't usually go to the questions since I am not a Realtor.

The good news is that the betting "question" on the Q&A are gone and I am seeing less spam.

I like to check the Q&A but haven't noticed that.  Only notice way too many "blue men", which should be deleted in my opinion.

Personally, I've never really cared if there were some questions that were non-real estated related. I often enjoy them... gives me another insight into some of the members, which I think is a good thing as we develop relationships here in the rain.

On some level, I don't know how it's different from actual posts on recipes, jokes, etc.... and I enjoy those, as well.

Hi Tony and Suzanne- I don't spend much time (if any) in the Q&A section.  It got to be too cumbersome for me. I don't mind the variety in Q&A, and it's a good spot for questions regarding real estate.  However, if questions were deleted previously because of particular criteria then they probably should still be deleted.

I didn't either Nina Hollander until Bob Stewart made it clear that the intention was real estate related questions - which did not include "what is the most shoplifted food?" (which was BTW "cheese"!) - thanks for stopping by with a comment!

Frankly, I'd rather have non-real estate questions that amuse me or make me think than idiotic questions from agents like "what is agency" or others that indicate someone has given absolutely not one second of thought to what they are asking or why.

I think the Q&A never reached its potential for what it was intended. Seeing it used as a real estate class is a disappointment to many of us.

I like the Q&A, if other don't, move along. As far as content, I never knew there was a directive and I ask what comes to mind, I've never concerned myself with whether it was real estate or not?

I think the childish drama in here is eye-rolling amusing at best, pathetic most days.
