The only thing constant in today's world is . . . CHANGE.
Years ago, I changed and started blogging. I was getting pretty active on the blogging website, www.activerain.com. I was pleased with how it was working. It wasn't overnight, it was a process that took time and effort.
It was driving people to my websites: www.IdahoMLStours.com and www.Progressive-Realty.info
I was getting "Featured" meaning the powers to be on that website liked what I had to say. I was building relationships with agents around the country. I was learning different perspectives on real estate. They have a point system based on a variety of factors (blogging, commenting, getting featured, getting likes, views, etc.) I was slowly catching up to other top bloggers that had a head start on me in the rankings of the top 10 bloggers in Idaho. I thought I was winning the game of positioning yourself in today's market!
Then, one day, I log in and someone I had never heard of jumped ahead out of nowhere. I never saw it coming! What did I do wrong? What should I have done differently? How did that happen?
It turns out that someone moved here from out of state and their points followed them. I was bumped and bummed, but I was not out! Today, I finally caught up and passed that person in the rankings. It feels good!
I am sure the same thing happened to CBH Homes. One night in November 2016, Corey Barton went to sleep as the largest residential home builder in Idaho. Maybe he saw it coming, but the next morning, he woke up as the #2 largest builder in Idaho! It wasn't that Hubble Homes, Boise Hunter Homes, Brighton Homes, Tahoe Homes, or any of the other local builders all of a sudden went into mass production, it was the fact the 10th largest builder in the nation, Toll Brothers, acquired Coleman Homes, one of his competitors, to obtain instant market share!
Companies need to be very adaptable in today's competitive and dynamic environment. I know with my 25 years of experience, real estate certifications and designations, technical knowledge and marketing expertise, I could take my tools and systems with me to any market in this country and am pretty confident I could disrupt the market and take market share pretty quickly.
What are you doing regarding positioning yourself in today's competitive world?
