Photos! We don't got no stinking photos! I was hoping that my first post back would have lots of photos but alas, the camera is M.I.A. (no not Danny Thornton's dog Mia). I would like to say that I have gotten settled in Knoxville but that is not quite true. I did make a landing in this beautiful and vibrant mountain city. What I did not realize was that landing was just the beginning; unpacking was (and is) next!
Many of you have read my previous post on de-cluttering one's environment as a metaphor for re-centering and cleansing yourself. If you missed it and would like to read it, just click HERE! The process of selling, donating, and throwing out those things which were cluttering my life was both harrowing and affirming. Though I was able to unburden myself of more than half of my furniture and belongings, I still had a ton (a unit of weight, equivalent to 2000 pounds (0.907 metric ton) in the U.S.) of stuff to pack and move! Make that a couple of tons!
Funny thing about packing your possessions into boxes...you have to unpack them! The process of Feng Shui'ing it (I am sure this is an incorrect use of the term, but it works for my purposes) has helped to alleviate me of many of the trappings I had clung to for far too long. There have been altogether new realizations as I have been going through the unpacking process. It seems the evaluation process in determining the importance of possessions was destined to reoccur. This time there were only two piles; donate and throw out! This process will take a while to work through but again, it must be done!
I am excited by the new things to come (no pun intended) as I become acquainted with my new home and area! And yes the garden was started a couple of days after arriving! Getting my hands into the rich Earth always helps me to feel connected! Pictures of the new garden will follow, but be warned, it is going to be photos of dirt for a while!
