Just curious - What is your highest # of Views?

Hello fellow Rainers,

I guess I'm a geek or a techy geek or maybe not.  Who knows. However, I found my self surfing the statistics on my blog today and I found the output quite revealing.

I have a business background and in order to grow my business I like to look back on my past to see what things worked and Web Statisticswhat didn't so I don't make the same mistake twice.  My business has slowed down a bit, not a lot, but enough that I had a few hours on Phone Duty today to analyze my blog, the success of each post, and what worked and what didn't.

Here's what I know for sure.  I was pretty much a dud when I started blogging in August 2006 on Activerain.  Fortunately I had a lot of mentors here at AR and I got in early which helped me learn from others.  Today my posts get quite a following on Localism & AR, and while I may not get a ton of comments, I've certainly gotten a lot of exposure!!

That said, I'm curious as to what is the highest # of Views you've received here at AR on one of your posts.  Which post has been most successful for your and why?

I guess I have missed something, where do you check for # of views?

There is a statistics tab.  You click on that and it shows you all of your posts.  It provides views for all of your postings and even tells you how many clicks per post...

I use the Statistics link and often find that people are going to my blog even though they are not leaving comments.  I would like to know the time spent per page and i could estimate approxomately how long they are on a particular page.

So, I'm still curious? My biggest "hit" is a little over 3000.  Anyone else getting numbers way above that? Missy? Broker Bryant? Anyone?

Very impressive! Of course you are at the Top of Your Game! I've reached over 3000 but that's the best I've done thus far.

Tracy, it always gives me a warm feeling anytime the amount of views goes over 1000.  That's sort of my benchmark of real success.

Tracy....  good view point. This should be part of your business plan. Between what they show you on here and possibly signing up with Stat Counter or Google Analytics. You need to see not only how many, but from where and how.

In regards to my best views... in the first week after I submit my blog, I get about 500 to 700 views. After the first 2 to 3 weeks, it usually averages 1,100 to 1,500 views.  What I love to see after the first 1 to 2 months is about 1,800 to 2,200 views. But a good 1,500 is something nice for me. I did one back in the end of January that has over 3,700 views. I wrote a similiar post on my outside blog that in the first 2 days, received about 1,300 views. I loved that one....

To answer your question.....  my best one was done on 12/22/06 with 321 comments and 12,960 views. Next best was on 4/12/07 with 10,690 views. And then 10/2/07 at 5,924, 4/18/07 at 5,852, and 12/30/06 at 5,599.  And I know all of this because this is part of my business plan. Which I thought was a great point that you made.

Biggest number of views?  Who cares?  Comments?  Who cares?  Contacts?  That's the important statistic to be concerned with.  Cosed sales - bingo!

Georgina... I semi disagree with your comment.  Number of views is huge, because how would you know if you are marketing correctly, efficiently, and effectively to the consumer. Yes, closed sales are huge. But why not increase those closed sales, if you pay attention to who you are reaching.  This could actually be more imprtant than your closed sales.  Because in due time, your closed sales could double, if you do the back end correctly.  Just my opinion and my .02... I am not an expert on this subject, but if I were to use common sense, this is how I would look at it.

Hi Jeff,  thanks for sharing your opinion.  I'm just not one of those types that analyzes the numbers (who has that much time?).  I like to focus on results.  So far I notice that the posts that don't get the comments are the ones that get the consumer attention.  I don't want to focus on getting views and comments when that's not really what I'm looking for.  All it takes is one set of eyes reading my post and then contacting me directly to make me happy.  I find it is happening now, and will concentrate on that.  btw I also don't pay much attention to price per square foot - it just doesn't hold much weight in most of my market, but that's another topic.  Good luck with your business.

Tracy - thanks for bringing this up.

Georgina,

I'm with Jeff on this one.  The more exposure I get on the net and the more content that gets exposure the more leads I receive.  It's Salesmanship 101.  You start w/the leads, and if you have more leads, in the end you end up w/more sales.

I too track the # of views because it tells me what is working and what isn't.  Like others, I feel I'm successful if I get over 1000 views.

I'm pretty new here and the only post I have over 1,000 views was featured so I don't give it that much weight as far as "really working." I can't imagine getting 3,000 much less the 12,960 Jeff has received. Maybe with time I'll see those types of numbers. (I have a new goal beyond points now!)

Jeff,

Per your comment above I also use Google Analytics for my current website and it gives me a great idea of what is working(content wise) and what is not.

I just really started hardcore blogging in the past few months.  My highest hits to date are as follows:

03/24/2008 Current FHA approved CONDOS for Gainesville, FL 0 445 336

(no comments, 445 views, 336 clicks).

Tracy- you really want to have some fun?  Add a counter from freecountersnow.com (check my blog for example - it's toward the bottom.  I chose the paw print one).  You can see how many unique visitors, page hits, what keyword they searched for to find you (!!!), what opertating system and browser your using, etc.  It is so freakin awesome.  I put it on my blog and website.

Tracy,

My post here has about 2200 views and just over 300 comments.

Angela,

I have counters on my website but not AR.  Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
