Road Trip Day 1: Packing

By
Education & Training with Although I'm retired, I love sharing my knowledge and learning from other real estate industry professionals.

Each winter, I make a point of going somewhere to get out of the cold and enjoy some sun and golf before Spring officially arrives.   It's been an especially long cold winter in the Northwest so my friend, Gail, and I were particularly anxious to escape and enjoy some sun and golf in the Southwest.  Our primary destination for this trip is Palm Springs, California.  It's over 1400 miles from home to Palm Springs so we have a few days drive to get there.   I often have people wonder why I don't just hop on a plane and get to where I want to go.   Gail and I love road trips and we have a knack for making the seemingly mundane fun.  Plus, the airlines don't like me hogging all the cargo space with MY stuff.

These daily posts will serve as a journal of the trip.  Gail also writes a journal and, frankly, she writes more detail is is funnier than I am.

Friday, February 24th: Day 1
I spent the morning doing my last minute packing and getting the car loaded, with the most important item being my golf clubs.  I figure if I have my golf clubs I can buy anything else I forget.

I like coming home to a clean house, so when the packing was done I spruced up the house for my return. I left home about noon, heading to Spokane to spend the night and get Gail's stuff loaded in the car for our Saturday morning departure.  We went to dinner at our favorite Mexican Restaurant, Palenque's, in Liberty Lake, WA.  We each enjoyed a Coronarita and shared and order of chicken fajitas. Then it was back to Gail's house, to bed early for a Saturday morning departure.

I like cleaning the house before a trip too, when you get back home it's a nice reception for the weary traveler. Enjoy!

This will be a  fun read! I like leaving the house clean as well, and I am finding that travel by air is definitely not as much fun as it used to be. I'm not a big fan of long car rides, but may consider that method of transportation more often.
