Do you have Caller ID with your Cell Phone?

Ever wonder who is calling when you are unable to answer the phone?   I know I receive no less than 20 solicitation calls each week!  If the person is calling from a home phone, the number usually comes across with a name, but the cell phones do not.

When I bought my new Samsung 7 in October, it came with a free service for a short period of time to try.   I REALLY liked it.   It is called Name ID through T Mobile, and is only an additional $4.00 on my monthly bill.

What I like most, is the calls that truly are spam.   I got one this morning that said Scam or Fraud, so obviously, I just let it ring.  Sometimes it says Suspected Spam, and again, just let it ring, and never do they leave a message.

An appraiser called this morning, and their name came across as ID, just love it!  Plus is easy to find the number in the recent calls, as it has a name with the number, you don't have to guess.  This gives me a reason to answer or not.

If you have this option through your phone provider, you should check it out!

Thank you for sharing. This seems like a really neat tool. I am always Leary of any call that doesn't come from WA, OR, ID or CA.

This has become a huge problem for me. I don't know if I'm answering a sales call or a lead.  Just yesterday I downloaded a free app called Hiya that's supposed to filter out spam callers.  I didn't realize that the caller ID feature on T-Mobile would help with this.  If the app doesn't work I'm going to add it at your recommendation.

We always answer unrecognized numbers because it could be a client, and then, if we discover it's a robo-call, we block the number for next time. Clever robo-callers, however, have managed to use a new phone number each time. Would caller-id help?

Great option you have with the caller ID, very useful, especially like you mentioned with the amount of spam calls we get every week.  I think 80% of my calls are probably spam and telemarketers.

Since there's no cell service in our mountain valley, I don't use a cell phone - but I would love it if my land line caller ID gave the names of people calling from cell phones.

I still might answer when I didn't need to do so - because I never know the names of potential customers. I had a spam call yesterday that gave the person's name. Oh well, hanging up is easy to do.

Hi Joan... I just got a new Samsung Galaxy 7, as well, but didn't pay for their service. Have been using a free one called Hiya on all my Samsungs to-date and it does much of the same... identifies potential spam before I pick up. And very accurately, as well. I'm horrified by the number of daily calls I get that are now spam... and now they are also moving to texts.

Your Excellent Choice for Real Estate

Google Voice is a good option to filter spam calls.  There's a feature you can select which requires your callers to announce themselves  prior to you accepting their call.  At least for me, anyone calling to sell me something will normally hang up because they don't want to announce themselves.  In addition to Google Voice,  I use the free YouMail app on my cell phone, which provides a caller ID feature.  You have the option of selecting canned voicemail messages or you can create your own, even for spammers.  One of the voice messages states "You've reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service".  Let's just say I use this option quite often.  :-)

I have been on a path the last year or more to block those scam and solicitation calls. I have done such a good job I have it down to just 2 or 3 a day ringing through.

I Love Caller ID!  I am very quick to block scammers and solicitation from vendors and people wanting my money.  The more consistent we are with this the better.  It takes a little time in the beginning, but in the long run it will save you time not answering the phone on wasted solications.

I let them all go to voicemail, if I don't identify the caller or the number does not ring a bett, or if I am not expecting a call from that party at that time

Love this feature.  Did not know it exists, but apparently it's for TMobile subscribers.  The comments above are very helpful, Google Voice I'll definitely check out.  Thanks!

This post changed my life.  Thanks Joan.  Just started using the app Hiya per Nina's post.  Works great.  Doesn't get the caller ID for all calls...but almost...especially for other agents.  Now I know who's calling in advance.

I get the # showing up but nothing indicting who or why.  Sounds like a useful service.  I may get it if the spam calls pick up.
