I've been commenting on quite a few posts lately and am still referring to myself as a Newbie.  I've been blogging for a little over a month now, which in dog years would be 7 months, still a pup. I'm using the dog years analogy because in the internet world everything happens at lightening speed.   So in 2 months I'll have the equivalent of almost  2 years experience under my belt!  That's a seasoned vet in the real world!  What I want to know is AT WHAT POINT DO WE CEASE BEING A NEWBIE?  Do we graduate?  Does someone out there (Maureen, maybe) in the AR world pronounce us "No Longer Newbie"?  Do we get a certificate, an umbrella maybe (or better yet, BONUS POINTS)? Or is this just something that is self-proclaimed and we continue on in our everyday AR activity?

And does downloading a photo you actually meant to, for once, get you closer to graduation?  (I still haven't figured out how to change the size, though; but I have read a couple of great posts with hints on this matter.  I suppose if I'm serious about graduating I should figure this out.)

WILL SOMEONE PLEASE LET US NEWBIES KNOW WHEN WE GET OUR CAP AND GOWN (OR UMBRELLA)??

Have a great day!!

Ed (wina) Vogt

(Note to fellow AR/Newbie Renee Rothenthaler - Thanks so much for letting me use the picture of Daisy and Bo.  I know how much Daisy meant to you and how much you miss her.)

Hi Ed,

This posts asks some very important questions!  :)  I hope they are answered.  I would suggest you post this material in some group forums such as the Welcome Group, Newbies & Fraiche Aire and Active Rain Newbies.  To do this you simply to the search function for "groups" at the top of the page when you log in and type in the group title or scroll down.  Then when you are at the group home, you click to become a member.  When you go back to your post, you will need to click on edit and then repost your blog to the groups which will now appear on your scroll list. BTW, Fraiche Aire is a Audu Real Estate group!  You're doing some good work here and I appreciate your writing.

I don't know when newbies stop being newbies...on Active Rain. I think it goes very fast... especially if you stick with it... I think Maureen Francis and I started blogging on Active Rain seven calendar months ago....I joined a week or so before her... invited her and we started blogging on the same day... Tony Marriot who is numero uno in total points last I looked on Active Rain.... joined a month or so after we started blogging... no one here is that old...in Active Rain time... the very first were the end of June... 6 weeks before I started blogging here.. but they seemed so old and wise.

Bonnie Erickson had a theory on RealTalk about what people are after they were Newbies...but Newbies on RT are not welcomed.  They are hazed.  The after Newbie stage on RT was NERTS... but that was because the established members were GORTs ... Grand Old Real Talkers if they were telling the story... Grumpy Old Real Talkers if anyone was talking about them.

May I associate with you so I can easily pull up all that you write on your blog Ed?

Maureen - thanks for the answers.  NERTS sounds close to Nerds, hmmm. :)

I will add you as an associate - I enjoy your blogs!

Maureen - thanks for directing me to Eloise's post.  This seems to ask the question - What do I want to be when I grow up?

Ed,

It was sweet of Maureen to direct you to my post. It's a riot, isn't it? I am glad you found me. With so many of us being on Active Rain, it is difficult to meet everyone.

Did you get a chance to read the comments on my post also? They helped me decide that I am going to be a newbie forever because there is so much to learn, and it is fun. Besides, now that I know that after newbies we become GORTS and NERTS, now way asm I going to graduate. GORTS and NERTS, or perhaps  NERDS don't sound half as sweet and cuddly.

By the way, I love your photographs. Let's hang out together. I am adding you as an associate with your permission.

Hi Ed

You made me stop and count ... It has been 5.5 months (Oct) since I posted my first blog. I guess I am still a newbie too !
