I remember what seems like a thousand years ago, when I went on my first listing appointment....it was an elderly lady....a friend of a friend of the family. I did everything I had been taught in real estate school...and got little more than an occasional nod from the Seller but felt confident I had done the best I could do.
A few days later the Lady met my parents ...and while she had not gotten back to me....or returned my call...she told them, "Girls really should not sell real estate, that's a man's job."
My Mother was one of three daughters....and people used to tell my Grandfather who lucky she was that he had daughters and didn't have to pay to educate them....All graduated from private Universities, my Mom a Marquette Alumnae.
Today is the day that every person.....can recognize and congratulate Women on their achievements socially, economically and culturally. It is not a political stance I am advocating....it is a recognition that in some realms is still lacking. We take for granted that women are treated equally...paid equally...given the same opportunities...but this is INTERNATIONAL Women's Day and we know that is not the case everywhere....not even in our own country.
Warm, heartfelt congratulations and recgnition to women who overcome discrimination...Who have triumphed over domestic violence....and continue to make a positive change in the world for themselves, set an example for others and encourage the changes that are necessary for gender equality.
Amen....AND WOMEN
