Celebrate International Women's Day....

By
Real Estate Agent with EXP Realty 414-525-0563 57026-90 Broker

I remember what seems like a thousand years ago, when I went on my first listing appointment....it was an elderly lady....a friend of a friend of the family. I did everything I had been taught in real estate school...and got little more than an occasional nod from the Seller but felt confident I had done the best I could do.

International Women's Day  A few days later the Lady met my parents ...and while she had not gotten back to me....or returned my call...she told them, "Girls really should not sell real estate, that's a man's job."

My Mother was one of three daughters....and people used to tell my Grandfather who lucky she was that he had daughters and didn't have to pay to educate them....All graduated from private Universities, my Mom a Marquette Alumnae.

Today is the day that every person.....can recognize and congratulate Women on their achievements socially, economically and culturally.  It is not a political stance I am advocating....it is a recognition that in some realms is still lacking. We take for granted that women are treated equally...paid Be Bold for Changeequally...given the same opportunities...but this is INTERNATIONAL Women's Day and we know that is not the case everywhere....not even in our own country.

Warm, heartfelt congratulations and recgnition to women who overcome discrimination...Who have triumphed over domestic violence....and continue to make a positive change in the world for themselves, set an example for others and encourage the changes that are necessary for gender equality.

           Amen....AND WOMEN

Hi Sally, I'm all for recognizing the generations of women who made equality a fact of life today. I am not for this idiotic "day without women" today with women not going to work and shutting down schools. And I can relate to your experience, as I started in 1970 in corporate finance -- not a field know for women back then, unless they were bookkeepers.

Sally,

Beautifully said axpressed.  My father was very upset that I took a typing course.  He told me he id not want me to become a secretary fetching coffee for mem!  No way, I replied.  My mother was a feisty food research librarian and head of the department.  At a meeting one of the visiting executives asked her to go get him a cup of coffee.  She looked at him and said,:  "Is their something wrong with your legs?"  He said, "No".  She replied, "I got my own coffee, why can't you?"  She was never asked to fetch coffee again.  And I agree with Nina Hollander .  A

Ron and Alexandra Seigel ~ I was crazed to take a typing course because my high school had some of the first IBM selectrics when I was a junior... and I just had to play with the new machines. I learned how to type 100 words a minute and still pretty much can to this day. Typing has held me in great stead all my life and I was never a secretary.

Alexandra Ron and Alexandra Seigel / Nina Hollander --- I was forced to take a typing class in junior high school(before it was known as middle school).  It was one of the most important skills that I continue to use today.

Sally and David women are very deserving of having an International Woman's Day and to be celebrated.  It is ashamed that some women have decided to politicize this day.

Well said Nina Hollander

George Souto ~ thanks, George. And the worst part about the politicizing is that most of them don't have a clue as what they are politicizing.
