Good Housekeeping Magazine's Clutter Rescue! book

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Casual Uncluttering LLC

This tiny book, "Good Housekeeping Clutter Rescue!", put together by the editors of  Good Housekeeping magazine, the 132-year-old grande dame, is filled with ideas, tips and encouragement for getting every space in your home organized.  There is a slight disregard for cost, an “oh of course you can just buy a pretty solution” optimism to the book, but it does also supply many ideas for home-made, recycled, inexpensive alternatives  –  like making magazine holders out of cereal boxes, a great solution in a child’s room. Flip through it for inspiration.

The above is another Amazon review, another one which, who knows, may generate one of my answers on my CPO exam. I'm just starting to get nervous....

DeCluttering can be hard for people who have been in their home for few years. To older sellers who've lived in a home for their entire adult life, it may feel impossible. Add to it emotional resistance they are experience. I'd recommend to start one room at a time or bring a professional stagger or space organizer.

Inna Ivchenko Starting "small," one room at a time, is a classic technique for getting decluttered. Professional Organizers often coach their clients to start even smaller if the client is really stuck - a closet, even just a couple of shelves on a bookcase. Anything to get them past feeling overwhelmed. And you are absolutely correct about older sellers: moving can be very difficult for them in particular. I have colleagues who specialize in helping seniors declutter and downsize: The National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM) has terrific people.
