From the Desk of Rich Shull...........
In part 1 of This one's for the pets!, I passed along information I found at my local veterinarian office to help prevent pets from being abandoned by owners who have lost their homes and cannot find pet-friendly accommodations. Now I submit part deux, which is from the same article, about ways to help save money in pet care costs during a time of financial "tightness."
Here's the list:
1) Provide regular veterinary care. Annual exams can catch health problems before they become critical.
2) Give your pet regular at-home exams. Check for lumps, bumps, discharge and scabs, and keep an eye on their eating and drinking habits as well.
3) Spay or neuter your pet. These surgeries reduce the potential for diseases that target the reproductive organs.
4) Set and stick toa budget for toys and pet accessories.
5) Keep cats inside to avoid outside accidents that could become costly vet bills!
Pass this along as far as you can send it!
Never forget that freedom is not free. There are many men and women who are sacrificing for us at this very moment. Some have made the ultimate sacrifice, while others are recovering from injuries sustained fighting overseas. Here's one way you can help these heroes: http://www.anysoldier.com. Thank you to all the men and women at Fort Meade, The Naval Academy, Andrews Air Force Base, and everywhere around the globe for your patriotism and sacrifice.
