Spring Break, Rockies Style

Posted by Bret and Meredith Amon on Friday, March 10th, 2017 at 3:45pm.

Spring breakers don’t need to shell out a fortune to spend their free time enjoying life in the sunshine.

Breck Spring Fever is back and ready to bring exciting music, thrilling competitions, and incredible blue bird days to Colorado. Here in the Rockies, we celebrate the beginning of spring season big time. In fact, we celebrate with a month-long party that everyone is invited to and that takes place all around the beautiful town of Breckenridge.

The festival starts with the GoPro Mountain Challenge on March 18-19, continuing through March 22-26 with Breck Pride, then on April 1st the Mtn Dew Spring Open competition starts. Festivities continues the very next day, on April 2nd, with the Bud Light Chili Cookoff - because a food competition is always a great idea and we think should be a mandatory part of every festival. On Saturday, April 8th the Breckenridge Spring Beer Festival takes place at a brand new location this year, at the Main Street Station & The Village at Breckenridge off Park Avenue. Children are allowed to attend this community event and music and entertainment is to be provided. On Wednesday, April 12, the schedule includes the Breck Ascent Series Final Race, while four days later, on Sunday April 16, the Sunrise On-Mountain Easter Service and Easter Egg Hunt on the Mountain will be part of the Easter celebration activities. Finally, the month-long festival concludes on Sunday April 23rd with the Imperial Challenge running competition and a big season-end celebration.

DINING ON THE MOUNTAIN

Whether you want a quick bite between runs or a delicious four-course meal after dusk, the Breckenridge mountain resort has you covered. Options include:

Peak 9 – Tenmile Station, with a spectrum of choices food-court style throughout the day and night; The Overlook Restaurant, an all-new spot boasting the highest altitude at 11,274 feet; The Maggie, a long time popular spot open daily for breakfast, lunch and apres ski dishes.

Peak 8 – Ski Hill Grill, a cafeteria-style eatery centered around convenience and good scenery; Vista Haus,  another great spot featuring famously delicious burgers and great beer options (the amazing Continental Divide views are not bad either); and finally, T-Bar, the most well-known spot on the mountain for apres ski and a popular destination.

Peak 7 - Sevens Restaurant with its atmospheric open-air kitchen is an experience on its own, offering options in building your own burger or pizza. Win-win.

Peak 6 – Snow Drifted Grab-N-Go, a mobile eatery offering authentic Philly Cheesesteaks as well as candy bars and a lot more.
