MY SPRING CLEANING OF MY OLD AR POSTS

By
Education & Training with Performance Development Strategies

We have all been given a challenge by Debbie Laity to do some spring cleaning of our old posts.

First of all, I think that Debbie used a very good choice of words in Spring cleaning.  When we think of Spring cleaning we have ideas of starting working but then finding so many more things that need to be done.  This is exactly my experience in doing my AR Spring cleaning.  I knew that they needed some work.  I just did not realize how much.

When I started blogging I was not using 14 point.  Correcting that on my early blogs was the easy part.  Some of my first posts looked like an eye chart.

What about pictures?  They were not only poor but poorly placed.  I replaced most of them with high quality pictures.  The pictures did not have links and I corrected that as well.  I centered some and used the new feature photo placement for others.

Oh those broken links.  I could not believe how links change.  I had a different web site before 2013 and the links don't work.  There were lots of 404 pages.  And now I know how much work I will have when I update again to a new web site this year.

But I almost missed the biggest fix! I realized after correcting a few blogs that I was missing a call to action in my early blogs.

Re writing old posts

Thank you, Debbie Laity for this contest to help us keep our older Active Rain posts "Active."

Grand I normally go back through my blogs to up date them and while I am there I check especially for broken links and links not opening in a new window.  I had not thought about increasing the font size on the old blogs but I will start doing that now.

I know what you are saying and can't believe how much work there is to this spring cleaning. The worst part is 10 posts is only scratching the surface.

14pt has become my size of choice as well.  Everything else is so small and hard to read.  This has been quite the challenge.  I still need to write my post. -Kasey

Good for you for tkaing this on, Grant. It's no doubt something we all need to tackle, and keep up with. I am still working on some things, and it will be a non-ending tasks. The broken links are the most annoying I think. Thanks to Debbie for this wonderful challenge!
