Doorway Pages: Are they all bad? See here!

All of you SEO gurus out there, correct me if I am wrong.

Disclaimer: I am not an SEO expert.

As a matter of fact I posted my first piece of web literature back in September of 2007. I feel that I have learned quickly. Currently I am generating roughly half of my business from the web.

I am setting up a new network of leas generation websites that will be going live at the end of this month (got moved from 16th to 22nd to do additional tweaks). I just registered a couple of new domains... My primary domain (Master Site) will be www.northcountryloans.com.

I am going to be engaging in several practices in order to drives MASSIVE traffic to my network. I recently stumbled upon something called "doorway pages". Upon further inspection it has come to my attention that Google regards these Doorway pages as spam.

I read on Google Web Master's site that Doorway Pages are considered spam because tehy do not present any value to the user. So... What I am wondering is if Doorway Pages that are hand crafted and contain guenuine content that is relevent to the search such as a couple of articles will be viewed as spam?

OK... I'll take the first bite. What is a doorway page?? Is it one of those pages that grabs the people's information and then takes them to the information they are looking for? If so, I put one on my webpage and I plunged down the rankings faster than you can say SEO. I took it off and after a while I moved back up.

Doorway pages are not good Christopher--take it from experience here. In a former life I had a very large CMS database driven website that was not getting good organic SEO due to the database aspects of the site.So, I put up some clean html doorway pages and in less than three months got banned from Google. I took them down and requested a resubmit but it was months before my page rank grew.

Your best bet is to just go with the solid SEO practises and work them hard. It is more work to really dissect your keywords and then to carefully place them in the titel tags, meta and content pages but it is worth it in the long run. Check out the SEO groups here on AR to learn more tips.

Doorway pages are special pages that are made for the sole purpose of fooling the search engines crawlers. They are also known as bridge" pages or "doorway" pages, portal pages, jump pages, gateway pages, entry pages, and by other names as well. To search engines to improve their traffic. These are black hat techniques to fool the search engines algorithm, usually door WebPages are made to concentrate on a single keyword or keyword phrase. They are created to emphasize on a particular keywords and are present on the net as a door to the website. One problem with this is that these pages tend to be very generic. Since these pages are made for different keywords they are often marked as spam, since they carry duplicate content. Another problem is that these pages don’t provide the goal pages, they act as a bridge or doorway to the original website that is why they got the names as bridge" pages or "doorway" pages, portal pages, jump pages, gateway pages, entry pages etc webmasters usually propel visitors forward with a prominent "Click Here" link or with a fast meta refresh command

Huntsville Alabama Real Estate Agent, Kimberly Grant (Exit Leon Crawford Realty) - A doorway page is a web page that auto directs its viewers to another page. I am not that knowledgable about this kind of sites but from what I read this is an easy way to drive thousands of people to a website per month. I do not want to do anything that will cause Google.com to blacklist me but I am just wondering if there is an alternative... A doorway page that complies with Google's rules.... Something like a website optimized in the same way as a doorway page with authentic information and original content... Something like a site map that leads to another site but is purely optimized for a specific search term... I am desperately trying to promote my new website... I want to drive as much traffic as possible so I am open to all possibilities. Any suggestions are welcome!

Team Wright Realty | Sean Bossie (Coldwell Banker | Wright Realty) - That is what I hear from everywhere and I certainly understand how Google views them. My site is very well optimized for the keywords that I am targeting... But the site is new and I know that it can take up to 9 months of solid SEO practices to get a site really noticed by Google. Any suggestions on how to accelerate that process? I am going to go read a bunch of the posts in the SEO section as well.

Palcom Web - Is there an alternative that you suggest? Any way to rapidly get www.northcountryloans.com to the top of major search engine? Any way to drive truckloads of traffic to a website quickly? I have a network of around 145 property websites, 26 websites with lead capture that I am working to expand the network and actually take in leads. I am absolutely willing to put the work in that is required. Please let me know of anything that I can do to drive some traffic.

Very true. I guess Doorway pages are a bad idea. Still, I like th concept and I wonder if there is anything that I can do similar without the negative impact that this practice will obviously have on my SEO.
