It doesn't need to be expensive or time-consuming to give your décor a facelift.  Sometimes you don't need to spend a fortune to fix a decorating mistake or problem.  Here are simple and affordable decorating fixes for five areas of your home:

The Walls

Paint is cheap and easy.  It can dramatically change a room.  Paint effects like sponging and rag painting can camouflage flaws and repairs, while creative accents freshen a room and make it unique.  Your imagination is the only limit.

Furniture

Furniture can be a considerable expense, since furniture styles change frequently and family life can wear out fabric on even the sturdiest pieces.  Modern slipcovers are affordable, classy, and come in a huge variety of designs and patterns.  They are ideal for cleaning and make it easy to change the look of a room.  Throws and pillows will also brighten up a worn sofa or chair, covering up problem spots and making old pieces look romantic and inviting.

The Floor

For floors that need some help, area rugs can be the savior.  A small oriental rug looks exceptionally elegant, lasts for decades, and costs much less than repairing a large stained area.  If the entire floor needs a makeover (in a basement, mudroom, or kitchen), vinyl rolls of flooring can be found that mimic the look of parquet.  With some decorative rugs, this provides a warm and homey look that doesn't break the bank.
