I have a permanent search on ebay for certain collectibles or memorabilia and one of the searches I have is for Searcy AR, my home town.  The fun thing is ebay will email you any new items for that search.  No looking every night or wondering if you've missed something.  This card is one that I found.  It shows Arch Street before it was paved.

The front says Arch Street.  Searcy Ark.

Made in Germany.  W. L. Baugh, Druggist, Wholesale & Retail Searcy Ark.

The back has a hand written note to Mrs. Mattie Hurt Eureka Springs Ark.  It was from George and has a postmark of August 25 1912 and a one cent stamp.  It's a true look at the past.

My next-office neighbor is Jim Baugh and the store owner was one of his relatives.  He is a wealth of knowledge about this city.

We have a ton of historical photos of old Missoula available for viewing here.  It is fun to go through them all and see what is still there and what isnt.

Hello Barbara, I have some very old photographs of my grandfather/father that were taken at an old cotton plantation somewhere in the Kensett/Searcy area around the turn of the century.  My grandmother was buried there somewhere.  I just love looking at these old photos and remembering the stories that my dad told about living there.  As I recall one of the family friends, was a Wilbur Mills who's father was a business owner in Kensett and then Wilbur became a state Representative.  Thanks for making me remember.

Barbara, I love the look of the drug store. Is that actually a dirt road out front? This was only 1912. Not that long ago when you think about it. How the look of things change.

Gary, could you post some of those old photos or email me some?  I'd love to see them.  Yes, Wilbur was one of our famous people until he embarrassed us all with Fanny Fox!  But he did a lot for our area and for the country.  I've been fortunate to get a person to let me post some of her old photos.  Subscribe to my log and see them.  Thanks for comments.

Mary, we can still recognize Arch St. though.

GARY, GARY....that was almost 100 years ago!  But the street still has some of the same look.  They paved it with bricks and then covered the bricks with asphalt.  Some nuts think they can take off the asphalt and get the bricks back.  Maybe we should just suggest going back to dirt!  : }
