Do You Know What the Keywords Of Your Home Are?

Do You Know What the Keywords Of Your Home Are?

Bloggers, advertisers, and others involved in digital marketing know what keywords are.  They  “facilitate an online search for information.”  They are sometimes called tags.home staging tip

But let’s face it, we all assign keywords or tags to all sorts of things in our lives.  It’s how we remember things.

What about your home?

If it’s for sale, you can bet that buyers and agents have given it keywords.

When I was looking for my own home to purchase, I gave all sorts of keywords to houses to help me remember them.

For example, there was the…

~Shag? home

This home had used shag carpet in every room of their home, including the bathrooms!

~Next! home

My husband and I knew as soon as we walked in that we didn’t like what we saw, and didn’t go any further

~Smelly home

No explanation needed

~Keep going! home

We pulled up nothing about the yard was inviting.

~Dirty home

Again, no explanation needed.

~The Granny home

Think doilies, outdated wallpaper, and crocheted throws everywhere.

Well, you get my drift.

What keywords do you want your buyers to use when they think of your home after they’ve seen it?

Dream home

Move-in ready home

Updated home

That Kitchen home!

When you’re preparing your home for sale, make sure that your buyers are walking out with nothing but positive thoughts or keywords.

If you’re not sure of what to do, call for our personalized home staging consultation.

I’ll tell you what you can do to make sure your home is saying the right things to your buyers!

When I think of the best descriptive word(s) of a home, I ask the seller why they bought the home. If this is carefully determined you now have a good idea of a description. Go back to work people...

I was watching a TV home show last weekend and found myself taking notes on key words they were using in their descriptions.  They had great use of adjectives to describe the homes.

No truer 'words' were ever spoken!  LOL  Great post, Kathy!

My favorite words are, "This is THE one!!"  When they say that, I know we're going to be submitting an Offer on that house - and right away!!

OMG LOVE IT! It's so true, all buyers come up with their name (keyword, never thought of it that way before)for each home. Why not be the ones that set the "tone of the home" or keyword we want it to be known for?

Thank you very much for sharing!

It doesn't take long to know if a house is the right one to become a home. Words make a difference.

Using tag words to identify properties really does work! It eliminates the confusion about what people like and don't like. I was so happy to see this one featured!

What I love best about buyers who find the right house is the way they look. It's the look that can't be denied that this is what they want - Yep! They found home!!!

Thank you Beth Atalay I was totally surprised when a home I consulted on had a contract on it in just under 2 weeks (back in '08)  You could have tagged it the neglected home.

Dick Greenberg I've been thinking about this topic for a while but couldn't quite put it together.

Thank you Myrl Jeffcoat I do have a feeling that more and more sellers are understanding the importance of appearance and perception.

Scott Godzyk and for a certain buyer, that would work!

Endre Barath, Jr. I can remember a home we saw with the pool in the basement.  We called it the chlorine home because that's what we could smell.

Hi Praful Thakkar you're right...it will often take some hard work and determination.

Amanda S. Davidson I wonder if sellers even think about this.

Mick Michaud I guess it's because we equate them with SEO!

Ron Aguilar That's an excellent idea!

Jim Paulson we want buyers to walk out with the keywords that will equate to "buy."

Coincidentally I play this game with my clients to help them remember homes we've seen.  And if there are kids involved, it's a game to name the house and we take turns.  It's funny how easy it is!  Have a great weekend!
