Ask Geoffrey: Why No Ketchup on Hot Dogs in Chicago?

Noah, I do like ketchup too, with avocado and onion.  Chili dogs are also very good topped with cheese.

Being a Hot Dog Purist,  only hot mustard is necessary. All the rest masks the basic flavors. Fun post!

Hi Noah -- I enjoy all of your posts but especially those involving "Ask Geoffrey". Like you, he embraces life in Chicago so once again, I've bookmarked this post to enjoy later.  

Too funny.  To each his own.  My husband puts only ketchup on his hot dogs.

Wow Noah,  I never knew about the ketchup rule.  Now you have me thinking to make chili and hot dogs one they this week.

The things we choose to make important, Noah Seidenberg!  But you're oh so right ... this is a HUUUUGE matter of debate in the Chicagoland area ... and the hot dogs (and debate) can get quite heated ...

Noah- I'm with Sandy Padula and Norm Padula, JD, GRI NMLS#1483386 although I've been known to put relish on it as well. But NEVER Ketchup on my hot dog.  I'm also picky about my hamburgers- absolutely no Mayo and it must be on a hamburger bun, not a kaiser roll or onion roll and one more thing- yellow mustard, not the other stuff. 

Hi Noah - I'm with Chicago on this one. Ketchup is an abomination and should never be eaten after a person's 6th birthday.

Noah, I do not do ketchup on my hot dogs, but I do like cheese on them along with the mustard, relish, and onions.

I like a little ketchup on mine along with all the other things you mentioned except the peanut butter. My grandsons like theirs will only ketchup or plain.

I normally would not use ketchup. 

Noah, I'm with Chicago, no Ketchup on my hot dogs. Mustard however is a must have in my house. I enjoyed watching Geoffrey. 

Noah, I put on my hot dog the dressings I feel like tasting at that meal. I think the mustard and not ketsup is a Chicago deal. As a kid I out both on my hot dogs.

Hi Noah, that was a fun video. Is it an abomination to use ketchup on a hot dog? For some, probably it is. 

Noah, we are having hot dogs tonight and I will put relish, mustard, tomatoes, onions and beans on my dog! Have a great evening. 

What a fun post, Noah. I missed this along the way. Sorry, but I am a ketchup fan...but then I rarely eat Hot Dogs anyhow. Fun video.
