Horsey Wordless Wednesday - Time to Trim the Mane

Mane Trimming Time - Horsey Wordless Wednesday

At the farm there are two goats, Leroy and Momo, in addition to the horses.  Leroy (named after the song "Bad Leroy Brown", to which he lives up to because he is always in mischief) and Momo (short for Moses) are loveable and have their quirks.  Momo, pictured here, favorite thing to do is to chew on horse manes and tails.  Most of the tails of the horses have been trimmed short already by Momo.  Here Momo is busy "trimming" King's mane.  What is really amazing is that the horses don't seem to mind Momo munching on their manes or tails.  What we do now is muzzle Momo when he is let out to graze with the horses.  Hopefully the tails and manes on the horses will grow out.

Good morning, Grant!

It's hard to say if it is unusual.  Goats will eat just about anything.  It's just a matter of what their preference is.

Good morning.  We used to board our horse where they also had a goat, but I've never seen this before!

I have heard that goats will eat anything.  Now we know they even chew on horse manes. . .Who knew?

That is a unique combination of animal activity and that is one accepting and tolerant horse.

Hi, Sheila!

I knew goats ate all sorts of stuff, but to actually eat horse hair??  New to me.

Hi, Myrl!

Who would have figured they would eat horse hair?  What is crazy is that the one chews on the hair while the other doesn't bother with it.

Hi, Joe!

The crazy thing is each one of the horses are tolerant of it.  Maybe they really want a trim.
