Ice Cream and Jerky in Idyllwild CA

 

We've been to the artsy mountain town of Idyllwild CA a couple of time (most recently last year) to enjoy some hiking, beautiful mountain views, and their popular down town area with abundant shopping (OK some of it kinda touristy), art galleries, antique shops, and a variety of popular places to eat, some with live music in the evenings (the jazz at the Italian place our first night was first rate!). Sometimes it's fun to get away from our beautiful coast and see some other gorgeous areas of Southern California!

 

I spied this interesting combination when strolling the streets on our first day. I am not a fan of jerky in any form, even Ostrich which I've seen, plus it was just after breakfast, so we did not investigate further. I wonder if they had Jerky Ice Cream?

Jeff sounds like an interesting place to visit. However, Ice Cream and Jerky are not a combination I would have thought of :)

Jeff,  if they do have jerkey ice cream I'd put it with garlic ice cream and pass on that one.

Gosh, I haven't thought or heard of Idyllwild for decades, Jeff. Tell me, isn't there an aerial tram that runs between this town and Palm Springs? If so, is it still operating?

Hi George Souto  - Idyllwild is great fun and a nice getaway 2 hours from our house. Such a different environment from the coast!

LOL Kathleen Daniels  - I would pass on both. Have you tried bacon ice cream? Another new trend it seems!

Well there IS a tram running up to the Mt. San Jacinto wildnerness from Palm Springs to the peak, but this is not in Idyllwild. It is, BTW, the largest rotating tram in the world...haven't been, yet!

Ugh Michelle Carr-Crowe-Top 1% Diamond Certified Real Estate Team Sells Cupertino San Jose Homes-Just Call 408-252-8900  I cannot even imagine!

It's a pretty cool town with lots of places to stay ( B and Bs, small hotels and inns), shop, and eat, and some beautiful scenery. It reminds me a little of Tahoe although no lake, and the town is pretty small Myrl Jeffcoat
