George, I for one love paper books...not a Nook or e-reader person at all...the Middletown library should have many people like me run for their full book bag!

I became a kindle enthusiast when I had to read lots of books within a short amount of time for a thesis with dissertationwriter.org and was reading books 'on a go'. Now I feel put upon if something I want to read is only available in paper book format. The kindle fonts are crisper than in a cheaply printed book. I can carry a huge inventory of books without worry about weight or mildew. My kindle is much lighter than a paper book, provides its own light for reading in dark places and even keeps my place if Im interrupted and dont think to stick a bookmark between the pages. Eventually the ebook distribution sytem will will settle down and prices will fall into line with production costs where the marginal cost of each new book sold is very close to zero. More information in more peoples' hands seems like a big improvement to me.

When I do end up buying paper books its almost always something that is not available digitally. That usually means it is a few years old and not popular enough to warrant reissuing it as an ebook. In that case I use Amazon to buy the used books since the inventory I have access too is much larger than any used book store would have. Its also cheaper and more environmentally responsible since I dont have to drive anywhere to get the book I want.

The traditional publishing industry is still fighting the ebook revolution but they will fail in that approach as the e reading technology gets better and a new publishing model evolves that does not need the traditional publishing houses that were able to manipulate the market in ways that frustrated distribution to wide audiences in favor of lucrative hard back book sales. Traditonal publishing houses are dinosaurs that have not figured out what has happened to them yet.

Im sure there are some folks who will continue to find comfort in paper books and the stores that sell them. I have friends who value the feel and even the smell of paper books but I think they will find it will be come a prohibitively expensive hobby before too long.

I wish I could get on this Book Sale as I am in need of some nice materials for completing my research paper with flying colours. Hope to find a sort of a book with academic writing expert guidelines, the one that could provide me with precious data I desperately need.
