A day trip to the California Poppy Preserve in Lancaster, CA
Most of my readers know, I eat and sleep Real Estate in the greater Los Angeles area. At the same time, I have always loved the California Poppies. One year about four or five years ago we went to see them and I was in love. The foothills of the mountains were blanketed with beautiful yellow poppies. The Fields were covered with a yellow blanket as well. The following year was a total bust, we barely found a few on the road side to and from the preserve.
Ever since then, for the past three years, I have been yearning to see a full blanket of poppies. This year I felt confident that for some reason it would be a good year. Then the other day I noticed that the neighbor’s home had a blanket of Poppies, as I drove to an appointment I also noticed that even Sepulveda Blvd had a blanket of Poppies.
Hence it was a clear decision, today we would go to see the California Poppies and put work into a text and strictly email mode. OK, I had to answer a couple calls…not too bad...
Well I guess I was not the only person who had the same thoughts. We had a perfect afternoon, well worth the 50 miles out of the way trip. Or should I say 100-mile round trip. The best part was even traffic was in our favor. We had virtually no traffic going to Lancaster with some minor jams. The biggest traffic jam we found was outside of the Poppy Preserve. Lucky for us we were already heading back.
The trip was a total success, not only did we re-live and enjoy the same beauty we saw four or five years ago, but to boot, we stopped at the same road side stand and bought honey like the first time, interestingly from the same daughter and father Honey Producers. Ironically Diane did a taste testing like the last time and go figure, I had the best laugh, she bought the same one as the last time😊).
