2017 Reno Jazz Festival

Search Reno homes for saleIt's easy to see why the San Francisco Chronicle called out past Reno Jazz Festivals for "showcasing music's future".  The 2017 Reno Jazz Festival offers a nod to the past and a wink to the future.  For three days, artists and musicians from all over the country come to the University of Reno to participate in special clinics, workshops and competitions.

The public has an opportunity to enjoy the talents of those participating in the 2017 Reno Jazz Festival, too.  On Thursday, April 27th, Don Byron and The Collective play in the Nightingale Concert Hall.  The concert begins at 7:30pm.  On the 28th, The Bad Plus Joshua Redmond showcase their talents at the Lawlor Events Center at 7:30pm.  On Saturday, the final day of the festival, all the winners from this year's 2017 Reno Jazz Festival competitions perform live beginning at 6:30pm.  Awards will be handed out after wards.

Tickets for the special concerts vary from $18 to $30 for general admission, $15 to $26 for senior citizens, $11 to $20 for students and just $5 for UNR students.  You can purchase your tickets online at the University of Reno's Jazz Festival website here.  Or, you can visit the Lawlor Events Center Box Office on the UNR campus during regular business hours.  Special passes are also available if you would like to see more than one concert or visit the clinics.  Tickets will be available at the door but only if the concert has not already been sold out.  So, if you wish to see one of the concerts, I would definitely recommend purchasing your tickets early.  Have fun!
