Another "Something To Do" In Minot

Dam FishingDespite the cry of "there is nothing to do in Minot" there are a good number of folks that would disagree and say there is nothing better on Earth than fishing.

During my photo walk tonight I captured this dad teaching his boy how to fish the river by the dam just off of Burdick Expressway East.

The City has several fishing docks set up but shore fishing by the dams seem to be the most popular. 

One last note about river fishing in Minot on the Mouse River. Occasionally the game warden will come around and check for fishing licenses.

Look at all the people, fishing must be good. Fishing season opened here for lakes April 1, but most still are locked in ice

I believe all our lakes are frozen over yet as well Scott Godzyk . There is one lake near a power plant that stays open year around because the lake is used as a cooling pond.nd it's great fishing.

Thank you Sheila Anderson , had I waited about 30 seconds longer I would have had a picture of one of those anglers bringing in a walleye but I had just put the camera back in the case.

The prize they are all hoping for is walleye John and Katheryn Alexander- Slocum . There is also Northern Pike and some of your typical river fish like catfish and bullheads.

We were fortunate that we owned a lake place and while I don't remember fishing with my dad much I do remember that he taught me and put that love in my heart to do so.
