A long time ago I read a book called 30 Days to Superstar Success by Terry Eilers.
Terry talked about his first 30 days in real estate sales and here are some comments about his first prospecting efforts. He commented that Prospecting is Most Important and says that in his first 30 days he did the following:
he made 1462 Cold calls on telephone
knocked on 600 doors
Held 2 Open Houses
Sent out 450 Brochures
Saw 210 people person to person or belly to belly
He made 2700 contacts prospecting 3 hours a day.
I remember Terry telling a story that he would go to the bank when the lines were longest and he would carry a real estate sign and always someone would ask him about the sign. This week I had an event that made me remember Terry's book.
My wife and I traded cars in the parking lot where our office is located. Then she said "Please take that Open House sign in the office." So, I am walking across the parkeing lot and a fellow sees me and the sign and said, "I did not know that you are a Realtor." We talked for about 10 minutes and I told him all I am doing in real estate. I moved on and was stopped by a second person who I spent time talking to and finally someone stopped me in the elevator. I remembered Terrys suggestion.
In my building (and everywhere ) I am known as a lender but now work as a Realtor as well.
What I am going to do is carry this sign back and forth from my car to office everyday!
Thanks You Terry Eilers
