Not One But Two More Elections in Los Angeles
And The Fun Never Ends...Oh Yeah
Just when you think it must...simply must...be over...there’s another election being held and for some Los Angeles residents...it’s not just one but two more elections.
Yikes!
How could this happen?
Well, there’s something in the city of Los Angeles called Neighborhood Councils. These are local groups made up of people who live, work, own property or have some other connection to a neighborhood. Neighborhood Council Board Members are elected or selected to their positions by the neighborhoods themselves. There are currently 96 of these councils throughout the city.
One of those neighborhood councils….the Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council which is comprised of Hermon, Montecito Heights, Monterey Hills, Mount Washington and Sycamore Grove is having an election to vote if Hermon can split off and be an independent neighborhood council.
And when it comes to elections…it seems that local issues can be as contentious as the 2016 Presidential election. While I certainly have my opinion, I’m not expressing it here. I do urge everyone who is eligible to vote on Saturday, April 8 from 11am until 3pm at Fellowship Center located at 5800 Monterey Road in Hermon. If parking is difficult to find the owners of Fresco Community Market at Monterey Road near the center have stated that their lot will be available.
You can save time on Election Day by downloading and filling out a voter registration form to bring to the polls or they will be available at the center on Election Day as well. That page also contains links to an Elections FAQ and an Election Manual.

As far as the other upcoming Election, that will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. This is the run-off between the two top finishers from the California 34th Congressional District primary(which the Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council is a part) that was held on Tuesday, April 4. You may remember my previous post and the 24 candidates that were running in that special election.
