Imagine growing up with a total of 9 people in one house. My mom ran the household and worked and put herself through school. You want to talk about rainmaker...she had it down to a science. When she spoke...you listened.. A task..one of 9 would get it done. Imagine the organization, time management and skill required to keep the household running smoothly.
That's why today I prefer to lead!
I watched her send thousand of holiday cards throughout the years, give gifts for the purpose of just because and bake millions of cookies and giving to everyone who really mean something to her....
That's why today I love the people in my life and value of my sphere of influence.
9 people and many strange pets some crazy mishaps did happen......Tears to wipe and fights to referree. I wonder how many times she said NO or Get in Bed? Arguing with school counselors or even the police.
That's why today I can stand on my own two feet and yes I am a great negotiator!
Growing up, she and my father went on vacations without us, they used to hang out with friends and sometimes we'd catch them in the kitchen sneaking a smooch.
That's why today I make time for my marriage.
Growing up I watched her make special birthday cakes for us, make some of the coolest 70's clothes (leisure suits baby!) And each and every year a homemade Christmas Ornament..each with our own name and the year painted by hand.
She taught me the best things about gifts...it's the gift of giving!
Wild Rice Stuffing for Thanksgiving, Baby Binks Easter Bunnies in our baskets, Dione Warwick every Saturday
She taught me the importance to create your own family traditions.
I have watched my mom evolve throughout the years. For what she has been through and what she has accomplished I watch her, I listen to her and can't help but pay attention to her because every day, every action she is teaching me.
That is why today I love training and coaching
Today she and my dad were supposed to come to Daytona Beach but their plans changed when my dad went into the hospital for some tests. So I thought if I could use some of the skills my mom taught me..you might all help me wish her a Happy Mother's Day and extend some warm wishes and prayers.
Our life growing up was not like the Brady Bunch or like the Cleaver's but my mom and dad made it special..made it memorable filled with lessons on life skills I use today..
This is her daughter Midori Miller creating a new on line tradition for the Terwilliger Family...I love you mom and dad Happy Mutha's Day!

Midori- What a wonderful heartfelt post. I think that you really know how to show someone that she is special! Happy Mothers Day to your mom and for that matter all the moms that will be reading your post.
It takes a special person to raise 9 children. Your mom sounds wonderful. My mom only had two children but she got divorced when I was three and raised me on her own until she remarried.
HAPPY MUTHA'S DAY TO YOU AND YOUR MOM! Great tribute to your mom ... love the lessons you've learned and how you are Paying them Forward in your life now. Prayers and best wishes for your dad, too. Let us know how his tests turn out when he gets out of the hospital.
