Tips on Posting Social Media Content that Drives Engagement

I am lucky to be surrounded by a lot of creative talent everyday.

An important part foundation to our culture at iPartnerMedia is to be educators on marketing topics and be available to help business professionals on an individual basis or conduct workshops for groups.  

Recently, I asked my colleague Rachel Perez, social media strategist, to share some tips for posting social media content that drives engagement.

1. How do you curate content for social media pages? What are your favorite sources and tactics to finding the best content?

Social media is all about here and now. When creating posts on social media,  focus on what's going on in your community, what your clients are doing, future events or projects, and of course, your latest blog posts which are always educational.

Create posts with your followers' News Feeds in mind. What would they like to see? A positive message? A motivational quote? Perhaps a holiday reminder.

For example, in January, we created an image for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day accompanied with a quote. With the help of a small budget, the post received more than 1,600 likes, shared 222 times, and was seen more than 30,000 times.

We use several outside sources to curate content, including local chambers of commerce, holiday insights, and we create our own images using the user-friendly graphic design tool, Canva.

2. What are your top three ways to boost engagement on your company's social media pages?
It is our philosophy that social media should be just that, social.

While the ultimate goal of your business is to make sales and boost services, it's not always appropriate to promote that on social media. Instead, we focus on visibility and engagement. Here are 3 ways we have used to boost engagement:

     1. Post Boosting: Sometimes, our team sets aside a small ($25 - $50), yet effective budget for Facebook advertising. We use this on the posts that we believe will resonate most with our audience.

     2. Holiday Highlights: Highlight holidays or other relevant hashtags! Holiday messages are great opportunities to engage with an audience and attract new followers.

     3. Everyone Loves a Giveaway: We engage with out audience by providing value via Facebook-only contests and limited-time offers.
